Friday, the most exciting day for people in New York, people were getting off work and kids were done with school for the week entering the gateway to the weekend, parties were being thrown and the streets were most definitely hot

But unfortunately Leilani was in her room finishing up her paper that had to be submitted by tonight, what a bitch right? Leilani thought to herself upset that her teacher gave her a paper to do on a Friday

She took a break and put her laptop down on her floor, picking up her phone she dialed Zeriahs number but it went straight to voicemail

Leilani was becoming worried, Zeriah hadn't attended school all this week and didn't answer anybodies calls, she tried going to her house but her stepbrother came to door and said Zeriah wasn't home

Leilani's thoughts were erased when she heard loud voices from downstairs, she rolled her eyes and came out her room peeking over the balcony to see her brother and Malachi greeting each other

She scurried back into her room but she knew Malachi saw her, she began to hear footsteps coming up the stairs

All of a sudden there was a knock on her bedroom door, she opened to see bryson and Malachi standing there

"We about to step out for a moment you coo?"

"Yea I'll be fine" she tried to avoid Malachi intense stare that was burning a whole right through her

"Aight I love you and don't let no niggas in my house you can have Zeriah over but I don't want to see Keyshawn over here and y'all alone I mean it Leilani I'll break ya neck" Bryson said in his thick New York  accent

Leilani thought it was cute how bryson always felt the need to take responsibility of her but sometimes it was annoying he acted as if they didn't had parents but Leilani could understand her parents were never really around they were always on business trips, working late in meetings and when they would come home everyone would be sleep and they would be gone off to work before the sun came up

"Ok DAD damn" she rolled her eyes, bryson smiled and gave her a kiss on the forehead before heading out the door with Malachi right beside him

She closed her bedroom door and sat on her bed in boredom and lonely, Zeriah wasn't answering her calls and she didn't feel like doing anymore homework and she wasn't going to bother Keyshawn he had spent last weekend with her all day and they were like two peas in a pod at school, she was going to let him have his space and have fun tonight with his friends since the football team took home a win

"I'm hungry" Leilani said to herself, there was a pizza spot right up the street, and she always loved New York's cheesy pizza so she went to her closet and put on a hoodie and some sweatpants, she slid on her Bailey bow black uggs and grabbed her metro card before heading out the door

Once she got the train station, her face grimaced at the smell, she always hated how the station would smell it reeked of piss and musty people

Her train arrived and she gave the dude her card before taking a seat near the back,

She put in her headphones and sung along to SZA The Weekend but she was surprised who got on the train at the next stop

"Zeriah?" Leilani instantly got up rushing to her friend

"Oh my god where have you been?" Leilani came  to hug her but she didn't hug back she didn't even talk

"I'm fine" her voice was low and she stared at the ground

The two took a seat and Zeriah didn't say much of anything "what happened to you?" Leilani touched her face looking at the purple and red bruise, it looked fresh and she became worried
