The war has cessed and people are back to their happy lives. I’m so relieved, in just a week I’ll be taking my first flight to Canada. Father has been waiting for us for so long, now finally we’ll be together as one family after 2 years.
I’m relieved but I’m still a bit hesitant. New country, new faces, new life. As for the languages, I was already studying in the english medium here, in Sri Lanka but as for french… I don't know how I really feel. I've never learned a new language out of the blue so …I’m pressured? I guess.
No one knows we got the approval,because the more people know the more we have a chance of not making it. It’s a common superstition. Knowing that dad had informed us that it’s winter there, I need to pack warm clothes. Mom’s packing snacks that dad would enjoy and spending time with Browny,I don’t know when i’ll see him again after leaving.
The bus comes at 9h30 pm, it takes 6h to get to Colombo from Jaffna, From there the flight is at 5H00 pm. The only airport in the country is in the capital. From Sri Lanka to Montreal, Canada, the travel time is about 3 days with two transits, one in Kuwait and the other in the Netherlands.
I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into...
