"And here I was thinking you could read minds. But apparently you don't have enough intelligence to read a simple remark of sarcasm," he says with a plain attitude of disappointment.

My cheeks heat up in embarrassment, but I counter back with, "Oh, I'm deeply sorry for not wanting to invade on your privacy."

He sees right through that and looks about ready to chuckle or roll his eyes but he just looks away. "I'll forgive you this time."

I roll my own eyes. "Dick."

WANDA:

Stark lands down onto the concrete just outside the base door and Natasha rushes over to shut it. Banner has calmed down and is back to his human self, coming back into the room in a new set of clothes but still looking worn out.

"Did you find them?" Steve asks immediately.

Stark tears off his helmet and he looks out of breath. "Nowhere. Neither of them."

"Dead?" I ask in a panic.

"No bodies," Nat corrects me.

"Captured?" Thor suggests.

"They ran away," Bruce states. "Ran to find something, ran for safety—they took off."

"I don't think I could blame them given all of this. She's a kid. She probably just wants to be safe with her space boyfriend," Romanoff says.

"No," Steve disagrees strongly. "No that's not like her."

"Iagree—she wouldn't leave for no reason," I add, standing beside Cap.

"Did she say anything to anyone this morning or last night?" Rogers asks.

My eyes lock onto my brother who is staring at the center of the table with his brows furrowed.

"Pietro?" I ask.

He looks at me and holds up a note.

Steve sees that and immediately he walks over and takes it to read what it says. His eyes scan the paper for a long moment as his face shows calculation. "She left with Loki to finish the war on our world..." he says as he reads. "They went to find something called the Omega...?" He looks up to see if that sparks anything in us.

We glance around at each other and don't know what she is talking about.

"She says it's what is controlling this aliens and it if they can kill it it will stop the invasion..."

"On her own?" Romanoff asks.

Steve frowns and finished reading the note. "She says it took too long to explain that they woke up every day because of a blood given power that came from the aliens and when they tried to convince us of it each day we wouldn't believe them. So they say it's their only option... And to not come after them."

"Finding the what?" Stark asks.

"'Waking up every day'—what does that mean?" Romanoff asks.

"I don't know," Steve says a bit defensively because he's just as clueless as them.

"And what are we supposed to do? Sit here and wait for their return?" Thor asks.

"I will not stay here any longer than necessary. We won't be of any use to them stuck in the ground especially while food is running dangerously low," Natasha says.
