someone who never sleeps, or can't sleep

laid wide awake, their mind flooded with thoughts buzzing like bees. they make out odd shapes etched in the ceilings. doing this instead of sleeping. which shouldn't be difficult. and yet here they lay.

here i lay.

the faint sounds of instantaneous rain, following the repetitive music of the clock on the wall. the house is still, calm. i can hear my own breathing, hear my own heartbeat. i'm aware of everything.

i'm tired, and yet, my eyes won't close.
