"What do you mean?" he knows exactly what she means but he doesn't know  how to answer it yet. "Why do you do robberies? Take hostages? You seem  different than the others like. . like if you don't like it," hearing her word he sat down on the stairs not answering just looking at the girl that hasn't even been around him for an hour and she already figured  that out.

"You don't have to answer me I'm sorry," she apologize hugging  her knees.

"No, its okay" he began.

"All my life I've been around this lifestyle it runs in my bloodlines being a criminal, a bad guy whatever you want to classify me as."

The image of his dad getting  arrested when he was six flashed through his mind. "It's just who I'm supposed to be," he looked down shaking his head.

"I don't think so..." She spoke again.

"Why do you say that?"

"Because your too nice if you were really a bad guy you would have let that other guy, I think his name is Logan do whatever he wanted with me."

Hearing  her voice tremble as she said the last few words, "Don't worry about him Selena, I'll make sure he doesn't come down here,"and that he is going to make sure off.

"Are you like their leader?" he couldn't help  but let out a small laugh, he always does when people say it like that. "you could say that."

She let out a sigh, "good because in a twisted way I sort of...trust you" a smile couldn't' help but creep onto his face.

"well that goes for both of us cause in a twisted way I trust you too."

Talking  to him made her relax his particular voice makes her not be scared even though she just wishes he could let her go home.

"How old are you  Selena?" his voice distracting her away from her thoughts "I'm eighteen," she quickly responded.

"was that your dad at the store?" he saw her nod before her head looked down "he must be going hysterical" regretting  asking her because he could sense that she is going to cry again.

"we  will send you home soon I promise" realizing he has been saying promise  to her a lot and not really sure if he's going to be able to keep all  these promises, he has never kept a promise in his life.

"Nick...that's  your name right?" he watched her shift a little in her spot facing the  darkness a little more "yeah" he simply replied "if you're going to  promise me things....just promise me that you won't let them hurt me  while I'm here," looking at her eyes he could see the fear sure as hell she is thinking about Logan "I promise."

and for the first time since  she's been here he saw a small smile form on her full lips.

"Thanks..."  she mumbled as her gaze quickly landed back to the tainted wall that stood in front of her; she wanted to know more about him, understand  where he was coming from...but she also knew that knowing too much would only lead to a freedom enclosed around these four walls.

Loud silence fell throughout the small basement; her soft whimpers were soon  replaced with the sound of her light breathing. "I can bring you a  blanket, it gets cold down here," Nick broke the quietness running  through the air; he noticed her head gradually tilt towards his  direction, curiosity was getting to her.

"Yes that would be nice," her soft voice echoed through the room.

She heard his heavy footsteps quickly go up the stairs and out the door,  the sound of a TV playing resonated through the house; she sighed noticing there was no exist out of this little room, all she can do is  hope they let her go...like Nick had promise.

As she sat there,  she heard the voice of her father echo through the house; "please just  bring her back" he cried out, "you can keep the money, just bring my little girl back".

"Dad..." she whispered as tears started descending down her pale cheeks.

The  sound of the guys arguing soon after quickly captured her attention;  "she won't say anything" Nick yelled at one of the guys.

"what if we kill her," one of them said randomly. "First kidnap, now murder; Logan I  swear..." Nick's familiar voice snapped angrily.

"Calm  down it was just a suggestion," Logan yelled back, "whatever we need to  rest on it, let's go to bed and we'll decide tomorrow" Nick ordered as  he went back to the basement.

Selena laid peacefully on the  mattress as the tears she cried slowly left their mark on her cheek;  Nick hesitantly put the blanket over her fragile body making sure she didn't catch a glimpse of his face, "have sweet dreams" he whispered into her ear while pushing her hair away from her face. As he slowly  pulled away from her soft complexion, he noticed the dried stains that her tears had left behind; she was beautiful even when she was at her worst.
