I just realized exactly how insane this story actually is.

Sorry..

Heh.

Also no music, because my computer keeps fighting me.

Enjoy~

(y/n)'s POV

There was once a time where everything was normal. We'd play MarioKart and laugh. We'd have dinner and chat. We'd have movie nights filled with warmth. We'd be perfect. Now I sit in the rubble of these memories, broken and alone. I was in my isolated tower and he in his own. That's the way he wants it. My apartment is now a quiet, desolate place, almost as if no one was living there currently. It was like I was a ghost, I was so afraid to do anything. To touch anything. I wanted to hold on to the last remaining pieces of normalcy. Occasionally, there would sound a knock at the door, signalling the arrival of Phil. He was some sort of mediator in this battle, though I wouldn't really call it a fight. I would hear news of Dan's seething anger in which Phil tried to convince me it's just a phase and that he'd be back to normal soon. I wasn't gullible to his fruitless efforts. I refuse to be. He'd try to stay neutral, but I know he favors a certain side. I hope it's Dan's, because him siding with me would only make things worse.

Today a knock sounded and I treaded downstairs to open the door. Phil's face plastered on a smile when I arrived and I stepped aside to let him in.

"No, you've been holed up in the flat for how many days now. We're getting coffee." Phil said. I hesitated his extended offer, but obliged, slipping on a pair of shoes. We walked along the hall, coming upon the door. I glanced outside at all the bright and cheery people, considering the weather wasn't terrible today. They were all polar opposites of me and I felt misplaced and I hadn't even stepped outside yet. We continued and stepped out onto the sidewalk. "I haven't heard you speak in the longest time you know." Phil said. I nodded and studied my surroundings. "You're beginning to act a lot like Eleven." Phil said. I looked at him, incredulously.

"Did you just compare me to a TV character?" I asked.

"I may have." He said, grinning. I gave him a half smirk.

"You're ridiculous." I said.

"See, it's nice to hear your voice. You didn't say a single word to me the last time I visited." Phil said.

"Sorry about that." I said, hanging my head.

"Nothing to be sorry about. Just want you to talk to me." he said, giving me a cheeky grin.

"You're being very nice to me and I appreciate that." I said. "I'm surprised you do. Best friends usually take each other's side, but you still talk to me, against Dan's liking."

"I mean, you're my friend too. Dan's being rather difficult and I like having someone to talk to, when you do of course." he said.

"Yeah, again I'll do that more." I said, smiling.

"Hey! I got you to smile! Point to Lester." He said, grinning back.

"Yes, thank you." I said. We came upon a Starbucks and Phil sat me down at a table near the window, which we both like, and went to order. I of course argued to pay which he refused, threatening to chain me to the chair if I tried. I placed my chin in my hand and stared out the window at everything around the shop. Lots of people in a hurry to get places, intermingled with some that couldn't care less about when they got somewhere. I lifted my head from my hand, stretching to get a good view of the figure bustling through the crowd. I recognized the tall man as Dan. He stopped in front of my building, as it was almost right across from the Starbucks, staring up at it. He put his face in his hands as people brushed past him, hesitating entering. I was too entranced by the sight to notice that Phil had sat down. He followed my gaze and one hand covered his mouth out of pure shock.

"What is he doing?" Phil asked, his eyebrows furrowing.

"I-I don't know." I said, looking away.

"Why the hell is he here?" Phil asked, his hand forming a fist on the table. I placed a hand over it.

"Woah, what's gotten into you?" I asked. His hand unfurled and he broke his gaze at Dan.

"I'm sorry. I'm just getting really sick of his irrational behavior." he said, sighing and I noticed for the first time, how exhausted he looked.

"Phil?" I asked. He looked up at me. "Talk to me." He looked at me, confused.

"He's just...I don't know what to do about him." he said.

"Just leave him be. He'll figure something out sometime. What and when, I don't know." I said. He glanced out the window to see Dan leaning up against the wall, his phone in hand. A buzz came from under the table and Phil pulled the phone out of his pocket. His eyes scanned over the message before glancing back at Dan. He gingerly handed the phone to me and I read it as well.

I'm outside. I don't know what I'm doing. I need advice. I couldn't stop myself from coming here, but now I can't force myself inside. I need to talk to her.

I set the phone down, screen against the table and looked over at him.

"Don't do this to yourself." I glanced over at Phil.

"What does he want to talk about?" I asked. Phil shrugged.

"I wish I knew, but you can't torture yourself by talking to him." Phil said.

"It's cold out, do you think he'll want warm coffee?" I said, gesturing to my untouched cup.

"No (y/n). I'm asking you not to do this. Please listen." Phil said. I shook my head.

"I wish I could." I said. I grasped the cup and Phil caught my wrist.

"Don't do this." he said, his eyes begging me not to.

"I'm sorry."
