"I'm pretty even when I'm not pretty..."

Mummys Magic Wand

So in my kindergarten class we do what's called a 'Treasure Box' with the children where we encourage them to bring something special to them other than a toy, say, a photograph, a book, a memento, etc.
Let's just say NOTHING could prepare me for today...

Me: okay, everyone listening please, it's time for L to share her treasure with us.
*L comes and stands up next to me as I sit on the chair, holding onto the box*
Me: so what did you bring in for us today L?
L: something that's really special.
Me: and why is it special to you L?
L: cause it makes my mummy happy.
Me: okay..., well would you like to take it out and show everyone?
L: *nods enthusiastically*
Me: *holds up the box and pulls the lid open from my side, still not knowing what's in it*
L: today I brought in...*reaches into the box* mummy's magic wand!
Me: *pulls the box away and sees L holding a vibrator in her hand*
Child: oh it's pink! Pinks my favourite colour!
Me: *stares at my assistant, assistant stares at me*
L: do you want to know why it's magic? Watch this! *presses button*
Kids: *laugh at the noise it's making*
Me: I think that it's really only something your mummy should have so how about we put it back into the box for her? I'd hate for it to get broken*
Assistant: *on the floor crying with laughter*
L: but I want to pass it around!
Me: not today sweetheart *proceeds to take vibrator and put it into the office* Let's go and wash our hands hey?

End of the session
Me: L brought something in for the Treasure Box today that was yours, it's in the office for you to collect *parent follows me and I close the door, giving the bag to the parent.
Mum: what did she- *starts to unwrap the bag*
Me: no you should probably just take it home
Mum: *looks in bag in complete silence*
Me: *tries to think of something witty to say that will lessen the embarrassment* Oh look! Don't worry about it, we've all got one!
Mum: *looks at me*
Me: *looks at mum*
Me: I mean...*covers my forehead with my hand* See you in Monday then?
Mum: *strangled voice* yep
