Eluding negative emotions and staying optimistic is not a good approach to making yourself better in the long run. In fact, it would be the opposite. A study finds that embracing your darker moods can make you feel better and forcing yourself to be positive can paradoxically make you feel more negative. Accepting negative emotions leads to better psychological health and reduces negative energies. But researchers are uncertain why this happens. They suggested that having an accepting attitude toward negative emotions helps you not to give much attention to them but if you constantly judge your emotions, negativity increases. People who resist acknowledging their darkest emotions or judge them harshly can end up feeling more psychologically stressed.
Thus, it is vital to recognize the bothering negativity inside us and make peace with them.
