Camila’s POV
Lauren’s face appeared on my screen and I couldn’t be happier. I saw a huge grin on her face, which I reciprocated.
“Hi,” she said, her voice soft, yet husky. I think I just died inside.
“Hey. Oh my god, this is surreal,” I told her. It really was.
“I know. I can’t breathe right now. You have no idea how happy I am to see you.”
“I think I do. Thank you so much for the past few weeks, you’ve helped me more than you can imagine. Whenever I talk to you I smile, and just… thank you,” I told her, letting out all of my emotions.
“Camz, it’s no problem. When I talk to you I smile as well, talking to you is the highlight of my day.” Inside I was screaming. Maybe she likes me too. What am I talking about, I bet she’s not even gay.
“Aw, we’re so sappy,” I joked. “How about we get to know each other face to face then?”
“I’d love to. 20 questions?” she proposed.
“Ooooh yeah, that’s fun. Ummmm, when’s you’re birthday?” I asked.
“June 27th 1996. What’s your full name?”
“KarlaCamilaCabello,” I told her, gritting my teeth at the Karla part. I really dislike my name.
“Your name’s Karla?” she asked, shocked.
“Yeah, I hate it. That’s why I use my middle name,” I explained.
“Okay. I won’t call you Karla.”
Thank god, I thought. Normally when people find out I hate my first name they say it to annoy me. I’m happy Lolo isn’t like that. Hmmm, Lolo? Well I think I’ve just given her a nickname.
“Good. Anyways, what do you like to do?”
“I really like to sing.”
“Same. Lolo, will you sing for me?” I asked. If her singing voice is anything like her speaking voice it will be beautiful.
“Lolo?” she asked, confused.
“Yeah.” I replied. “It’s your new nickname. You call me Camz so I’m gonna call you Lolo.”
“Okay”
“So will you sing for me?”
“Do I have to?”
“Please, Lolo?” I begged. I began to pout and I saw her look at me.
“Fine.” Yes! The pout worked. “What song?”
“Anything”
she put on a cute thinking face, then opened her mouth to sing. I was awestruck by what came out.
I’m gonna pick up the pieces,
And build a lego house,
If things go wrong we can knock it down.
My three words have two meanings,
There’s one thing on my mind,
It’s all for you
And it's dark in a cold December,
but I've got you to keep me warm
If you're broken I will mend you
and I'll keep you sheltered from the storm
that's raging on now
I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
And out of all these things I've don
I think I love you better now
I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And out of all these things I've done
I think I love you better now, now.
Lauren looked up and probably saw me with my mouth wide open. Her voice was magical. The perfect mix of soft, and rough, and power.
“Oh my god, Lolo. You’re amazing. Oh my god, I want your voice,” I gushed.
“Aw Camz, you’re the sweetest,” she said. “But now, I want to hear you sing.”
Dammit, I though she didn’t hear me say I liked singing too.
“B-but,” I stuttered.
“Nuh-uh. You got me to sing. You’re gonna sing for me.”
“Okay…”
I quickly though of a song, and began to sing.
Loving him is like driving a new Maserati
down a dead-end street
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin,
ending so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn, so bright just before they lose it all
Losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red
“Holy mother. Camz. You’re amazing,” Lolo said as soon as I’d finished.
“Thank you,” I replied. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, and prayed that she couldn’t see it.
“Are you blushing?”
“Nope…”
“I think you are. It’s adorable.” I began to blush more at her comment.
“Shhh. EW, I hate that noise, why’d I say it?”
Lauren looked away from the camera at something then looked back.
“Aw, Camz, I gotta go, but can we do this again?” she asked.
“Of course. I’ll talk to you later. Bye Lolo.”
“Bye Camz.” She said.
She hung up, and I closed my laptop. I lay on my bed, with a huge grin on my face, still slightly blushing. Now I had spoken to her pretty much face to face, I knew that I liked her as more than a friend.
I wrote thoughts about Lauren down in my journal/notebook thing that I carried everywhere with me, about how I was falling for her.
Lauren is something special, I just hope that we can be more than just friends.
