"Morning Kooki!" Jimin flashed his boyfriend a dazzling smile. The younger only groaned and rolled over.
"Do you know what today is, Kooki?" He was already up and alert, hazardously rampaging through his closet for the perfect outfit.
"What, Jimin?" Jungkook mumbled, still half asleep in bed. He shifted around waiting for an answer. He was almost unconscious again when he suddenly heard a little whimper. He blinked until he could see clearly then sat up. A very pouty Jimin greeted him.
"You forgot, didn't you? Jeon Jeongguk! You forgot!" Jimin's expression changed into a cold one as he suddenly started moving again. He threw his oversized hoodie and ripped jeans back where they belonged and pulled out a different outfit. He slowly pulled off his shirt, followed by the rest of his clothes. He smirked when he saw that little Kookie was staring. Then put on black leather pants, a shirt with horizontal black and white stripes, and his sparkly black jacket.
"I'm going out. Without you." He almost grinned when faced with Jungkook's enormous pout.
"Fine then. I'm working late. Don't expect me to be back tonight, I'll probably just stay at my apartment. Near where I work." It was Jungkook's turn to grin when Jimin's face turned stony.
"Good." Then he was out the door, slamming it behind him. He started his truck with ease, not sure exactly what his own destination was. He just wanted to get away from the disappointment of his boyfriend forgetting their anniversary. And the thought that Jungkook was the one who worked. What if they split up? Then Jimin actually laughed out loud at how ridiculous his own thoughts were. Suddenly his phone rang.
"What are you up to, Jimin?" It was Jin.
"You know, the usual. Boyfriend forgetting the most important day ever. Being alone. Driving to nowhere." He could hear Jin's angry gasp, and him telling someone else. There was static then Namjoon's voice.
"You want me to talk to him for you? Or you know, kill him. Either option." Jimin smiled.
"It's fine, and tell Jin not to worry. Maybe I'll go bye his apartment tonight and bring some cake or something!"
"Wanna meet us and Yoongi at the mall?"
"Can't. I'm driving to his favorite place. To get those weird things he likes."
"You'll be driving for four hours!" Namjoon was beyond shocked, and a little confused at the sudden change in heart.
"He really likes duck meat, okay? It'll be great! Gotta go. I am driving here, you know." After two rest stops and a few almost-crashes, he could see the little restaurant. It brought him back to his very first date with Jungkook.

"OHHHH! JIMIN!!! PARK JIMIN IF YOU DON'T PULL OVER I'LL NEVER GO OUT WITH YOU AGAIN!" Jungkook shouted, eyes wide as he saw a cute little place off the side of the road.
"Chill. We can eat there, okay?" Jungkook could only nod in response, he was so speechless with excitement.

That was the day they had their first kiss. And Jimin learned of Jeon Jeongguk's intense love for the yummy meat. He whistled while he walked in, feeling nostalgic. He tried to remember the last time he had gone out with Jungkook, or even kissed him. The last time he could think of had been at least a month before their anniversary.
"He doesn't seem to be as interested in me anymore." The guy at the counter looked at him in confusion.
"Sorry!"
The man shrugged. "I just work here."
Jimin left feeling a growing sense of dread. So distracted he became by his feelings that he had to pull over. He spent two hours at a rest stop trying not to cry and failing. Once he didn't have any tears left to give, Park Jimin continued his drive, heart heavy with a feeling of loss. What, he didn't know. He pulled up at the apartment and let himself in, deciding to wait the last hour before his boyfriend would get off work at the apartment. He must have dozed off, because a few moments later he heard Jungkook's voice outside the door. He ducked into the bathroom, unsure what caused him to do it.
"Jungkookie, it smells like duck meat in here," a whiny female voice stated. Jimin's imagination ran wild and tears pooled in his eyes. Jungkook's response shook him to the core.
"Don't worry about it, baby." Jimin fought a scream. Baby? Baby? The word pounded without remorse into his skull. Again and again until he was curled into a fetal position on the bathroom floor.
"Okay, Jungkook. I love you." Jimin really had to fight another scream as tears came in storms.
"Love you too," a deep voice responded. Jimin registered it as Jungkook's, but it didn't click. It couldn't click. Why would Jungkook tell someone else that he loved them. There was a small silence before weird sounds reached him and he realized that they were kissing. That broke his last shred of hope and he walked quietly out as soon as he heard a door close, feeling empty. He left the duck meat on the counter and sent Jungkook a text.
You sure you can't come home tonight?
Jungkook called him an hour later.
"I'm on my way now! Was caught up at work. See you soon!" Jimin almost laughed at Jungkook's happy voice. He wanted to whimper, to cry, to do anything but feel so blank. He couldn't, so instead he made a decision.
As Jungkook walked in, he received a couple of texts in rapid succession.
I went by the apartment to surprise you.
It was our anniversary today, not that you remembered.
But it's okay. I guess she makes you happy.
But thing is, I'm not happy.
You won't have to worry about pretending to go to work anymore.
Jungkook stopped moving after he closed the door. He got one last text before his phone became silent.
I still love you, Jungkook.
He walked further into the house in a daze, praying that his thoughts were wrong. But the second he reached the bedroom, all he saw was red. His vision blurred and his breath hitched in his throat.
"No! God, no. Please, no." Tears started flowing and he saw a glimpse of Jimin in his peripheral vision.
"Nice of you to finally care," Jungkook's hyung said, coughing at the end because he was choking on something. His own blood. Jungkook frantically called 9-1-1, but couldn't speak. Hanging up, he gently grabbed Jimin, not worrying about the blood that got on his white shirt.
"Please don't. I'm sorry." His voice cracked with emotion and he couldn't continue speaking, he was sobbing so hard.
"I just wanna know who that girl... who she was." Jimin seemed to draw in a deep breath. Jungkook panicked when he realized Jimin was still alive.
"It's not like that. Jimin, she wasn't anybody. My boss's daughter came over. She was just messing with me. We're just friends."
"Friends kiss? I'm sick of you lying." Jungkook kissed him hard on the lips in response, crying even harder when he tasted blood.
"I'm tired, Jungkook." Jungkook kissed him again before pulling away to look him seriously in the eye.
"I'll always love you, Jimin. Always have."
"Should've said that sooner." Then Jimin's usually happy expression became blank. He took one last breath, and a long scream came from somewhere. From everywhere. It didn't matter to Jungkook because one stupid mistake had crushed his soul.
"Jimin come back! I need you. You... you love me too, right?" His words were met with silence. A few minutes later, a shout of pain shook the house as Jungkook finally accepted the fact that Jimin was gone. Forever.
