Avalyn knew she shouldn't be drinking, and she was trying to restrain herself to the best of her abilities, but she couldn't resist taking small sips after sips, letting the cool liquid run down her throat and take its effects on her body.
After a few more mouthfuls, she decided that that was enough drinking for tonight and moved on to the dance floor, keeping her drink aside. One thing she was proud of was the fact that, no matter how much she drank, when she danced, she never missed a beat. She knew she looked good in that moment: messy midnight black hair, her form-fitting outfit of jeans and a crop top, and her generally considered attractive figure, all went together perfectly.
Avalyn was very aware of it and had no intention of changing it. She unapologetically loved flaunting her body, never shameless to show off such a blessing. She was confident and comfortable in her own skin.
She felt someone place their hand against her hips, moving their body with hers. She turned her head to glance at whoever had invaded her personal space and her heart froze for a second.
Since she was pretty tall herself, this stranger was only a few inches taller than her. He had a good physique. She couldn't identify the colour of his hair or eyes as the pulsing strobe lights flashed them in multiple colours. He looked to be about a couple of years older than her. Maybe more; she was way too distracted with his looks.
Avalyn gave him a half drunk, lazy smile, which she knew to have worked on a number of males in the past. She was not disappointed when he rewarded her with a charming smile of his own.
If you hadn't guessed already, good-looking men were her weakness.
When she got tired, she disentangled herself from the stranger and made her way to a seat located near the bar. As she drank water to clear her mind a little bit, she could feel someone's eyes on her. Soon enough she found out that it was the eyes of her earlier dance partner. She smiled smugly to herself.
She was definitely attracted to this man - she couldn't deny that - but there was something about him that seemed off. Maybe it was the dangerous aura around him, or maybe it really wasn't anything. In her tipsy state, she neither had energy to think deeply about it nor did she particularly care. After all, she was never going to see this person again.
She started walking towards him, swaying her hips for an extra effect.
"Hey," she greeted the stranger.
"Hey, babe," he replied. His voice was unexpectedly deep and smooth.
She was about to reply when her eyes flickered to the clock hanging on the wall behind him and widened, It's already one?!
It was not as if her parents were around to scold her if she became late, but she had decided not to stay out too late or drink too much as she still had to unpack and get ready for college, which started in two days. She couldn't afford to be hung over and tired when she had a lot to do and only two days to do it.
"I'm sorry, I have to go," she said, quickly making her way out of the club.
She heard footsteps coming towards her as she walked to her apartment. It was only ten minutes away, and even though it would hurt to walk in those heels, she thought the fresh air would clear her head a bit.
Soon enough, the stranger was matching her steps.
"Didn't tell me your name, sweetheart."
"What if I don't want to?" Avalyn smirked, enjoying this little conversation.
Just then, she tripped slightly on her heels. The stranger caught her in time, "Woah, steady there, baby girl."
Avalyn gave him a genuine smile. "Thanks."
