"Nicole did you see the new executive? He's so fine!" Candice said running from around the corner in her heels, making me wonder how she managed to not fall at the speed she was going.

"No. Don't really care to honestly" I said with a nonchalant shrug not even looking up from my work causing her to give me a displeased look.

"Girl, you should care. He can help you move up higher into the company, he can hand teach you business instead of you losing your social life trying to study late at night" she said with a snare making me roll my eyes. "Baby you need a break"

"I don't need a break Candice! A little coffee ain't go help me none right now, and besides I don't need a man to help me - I need some peace if anything. Peace from this damn office and this phone that's always off the hook"

"No! Not no damn coffee break, a break from everything. From school, from answering the phone, all of that. Let me take you out tonight"

"Naw, thanks for the offer, but I got work to do"

"Nope. Let me take you out tonight, and I can flirt a little with John to let you get tomorrow off. You need a break, I know that daughter of yours misses you" She said leaning over my small boxed cubicle. The phone rung.

" you'd do that for me?" I said looking up at her and lightly biting my lip, Ignoring the constant ringing.

"Of course. Now answer that phone before it give me a headache. I get off a hour after you so come check with me before you leave doll." She said waving and walking back around the corner to her cubicle.

Candice was a great friend of mines within the office. She was always happy and eggar , never annoying and always knew a solution - honestly there really wasn't anything she couldn't do. That was probably one of the reasons John was having an affair with her.

"Hello, Microsoft front office. What may I help you with?" I said picking up the phone for nearly the hundredth time today. I answered their petty questions then hung up, sighing as my daughter flooded my mind along with all the school work I needed to complete.

"Hello?"

I instantly looked up as the deep voice sent a shiver down my spine.

"New Executive Jackson Miles." He said extending his hand out to me "I'm the new executive and I felt the need to introduce myself to all the workers here at Microsoft, glad I did" he finished with a bewitching smile.

I rose from my seat and took his hand firmly. His hands were quite large, and so was he. I stood at 5'9 not including the heels I had on, and I was still looking up to him. "Hello Mr.Miles, I'm Nicole Smith. There really was no need to introduce yourself, I'm sure I would have heard your name around here eventually." I said looking down at our hands that were still together. My chocolate skin and his smooth white skin.

"Ah, I see" He said with a deep chuckle making me smile lightly. " and why would that be?"

"Well," A blush flooded my face, but luckily I was blessed with dark skin; therefore, it was barely visible. " A new, handsome young man entering the building, that't something no one would miss. So it would be the topic of some conversations"

He laughed. "Nice to know. Maybe one day you could tell me about those conversations you may hear" he said releasing his firm grip and walking away with a wave.

I watched him walk around the corner, Mr. Jackson Miles sure was fine like Candice said, and I would love to get a taste of him, but I couldn't maintain a relationship right now. It wasn't like he'd want a girl like me anyways.
