Brooklyn's POV,

"Hey squirt, how's my girl?" I asked as I walked into the house to find Hazel sitting on the couch in front of the television

She quickly flicked it off and bounced into my arms as if she was still the same little two-year-old I remembered her as.

"Hi Mommy! Are we going to see the baby?" she squealed as I gave her a bear hug

"We are! Get your shoes on and let's roll." I said as I set her down

"I'm going to go tell Daddy bye!"

She ran into the kitchen.

I followed her, unaware that Justin was here.

"I thought you were in New York? I would've rang the doorbell if I've known you were here. Sorry."

"You don't have to ring the doorbell, Brook." He said without looking up

"Is it okay if I bring her back a couple of hours late? I promised we could go see Madelyn and Derek's new baby in Riverside."

"Yeah, that's cool. Just don't make it too late. She has school tomorrow."

"Dad!" Hazel whined.

"He's right. It won't be any later than eight." I smiled

"Mommy!" She whined again

"It'll be plenty of time to see the new little family, I promise." I laughed

Justin's POV,

"How about we stop and get smoothies on our way out of the city?" Brooklyn smiled as she led Hazel out of the kitchen

As soon as Brooklyn and Hazel were gone, I got in the car and drove to my mom's.

In the last four years, she had become my right-hand man again.

Hazel spent a lot of time there, and my mom and I were closer than ever. I needed her as I tried to raise my six-year-old baby by myself.

"Hey baby, no Hazel?" She smiled as I walked in

"She's with Brook." I sighed as I slumped into one of the four kitchen chairs.

My mom sat a warm cookie in front of me, but even that couldn't make me feel better.

"Oh, now are things really that bad? How is Brooklyn? I haven't seen her since she got back from tour."

"She's good, I think. It's not like we talk." I sat down and wondered why I was still so emotionally drained by the situation

It had been four years since she left.

Why was I still holding onto so much anger and pain? Why wasn't I over it?

"Honey, maybe you need to sit down with Brooklyn. Maybe you two need to talk things out. It's been a long time since the incident. If you're going to let her be a big role in Hazel's life, wouldn't it be easier if you two were at least on speaking terms?"

"No. Nothing she can say can change my mind." I shook my head

Even though it had been four years, I remembered the day she had disappeared like it was yesterday.

"Where could she go? Who could she be with? Why did she drop Hazel off at my house and tell me she was coming to see you?" My mom battered me with non-stop questions

Brook had been missing for six hours and I couldn't help but think that something was seriously wrong.

"I don't know! I don't know anything!" I yelled, frustrated
