It was a cold day. Mom was out working late and Ben was with his friend leaving me alone.

I didn't have any friends so I was always home alone when those two are out. I'd never get scared because I was always caught up with studying. My life only consist of the little things. I'm blessed with a caring mother and an annoying older brother. I was top student which means I have to study really hard. But at the same time, my family is busy and work can be stressful. Being a loner was something I dealt with since younger.

"Eli! I'm home!" Mom called out. I climbed down the stairs and rushed to her. I gave her a tight hug before letting her go.

"How was the meeting today?" I asked as we sat down on the couch. She puffed out air and sighed. She shooked her head giving a sign that it wasn't that great. I left her to relax and went to my room. I loved my room.

It was white and my bed was placed in the middle, sandwiched by two shelfs. There were two arrows crossing one another on one side of the wall. My bed was big and it was a stripped cover with tons of pillows on top. My study table was at the side near the window. It was a nice white table and on top was a lamp and a laptop. I has those rolling chairs.
I changed into my pajamas and went to bed. I soon fell asleep due to the coziness of my bed. The aircon made it faster.

I woke up to the smell of bacon and mapel syrup. My stomach grumbled. I stepped out of bed and followed the smell of sweet bacon to the kitchen. I was greeted by my mother who seemed to be relaxed.

"Good morning Mom," I greeted as I gave her a back hug. I let go and grabbed a cup of juice.

"I won't be home till late again," Mom announced and my brother came down. Both of us groaned again. As the editor for books, my mom had to rush everywhere.

My brother sat down at the table and took some pancakes for both of us. We dug in and enjoyed the flavours.

"Eli, there's a party today. Wanna come?" Ben asked as he turned to face me. I shooked my head and chuckled.
