I wake up screaming. Mitch comes running in. "Daniel!" I shout. "They've taken him! He's in trouble! I know it!"

     "Calm down, sweetie. Your safe."

 "But Daniel's not!" I protest.

"We are going to find him. We will rescue him."

Mitch tries to soothe me. I pull my head under my blanket, and in a matter of seconds I come out gasping for air. I know what Mitch will say. He's done it several times before. He reassures me that I'm okay. That I'm safe. But I don't care about me. He never says,"It will be alright, Jess. Everthing will work out." Because he knows it won't.

"Stupid  Mogadorians," I cry out in anger.

"Come here, kiddo." Mitch holds out his arms, and I pull myself into them. Mitch is not my father, let's get that straight. But he is the closest thing to one I will ever get. He is my Cepan, or here on earth you would understand him as my guardian.

He looks young despite his age, but in earth years he is considered around his late 40's.His sandy colored hair is swept across his face, sticking up in odd tufts. I've settled down a bit, but am breathing still very fast.

"Sweetie," he says softly, "I need you to calm down. Your next Legacy will be here soon, and I don't want anything bad to happen."

I want to scream at him, but I can't bring myself to do it. Maybe he's right. This is probably just one of my tempers flailing because my next Legacy, or power, will be here. I close my eyes and take deep breaths, slowly counting to ten. Then all of a sudden, images pass through my mind. This happens quite often, but none of the pictures are this horrible.

First I see the people from my dream running in all directions. This place is being bombed, and people are fighting. I know this place. Lorien, my home. I look closer, and I see that it's not human against human, but a monster is fighting as well. He quickly slays the man, now lying in a puddle of red. The monster turns his yellow eyes on me and brings out his sword once more.

My eyes dart open, and I engulf my hands in flame. I am not sad now, but very angry. I'm most dangerous that way. These people invaded my planet and killed everyone. They stole our valuable resources, then let it burn into nothing. Mitch yells, but I can't here him over the burning flames. I start up a fireball, but then Mitch does something I do not expect.

He comes and tackles me from behind. I roll to the ground and the flames on my hands diminish.

"Thanks." I say critically."But I had it under control."

He cusses under his breath. "You almost burned the house down! You DID NOT have it under control!"

I count to ten again, but I don't dare close my eyes. "Ok, you're right. I'm sorry, thank you." I think then quickly add," For tackling a 14 year old girl to the ground from behind and quenching her house-destroying fireball." Mitch laughs, and I give him a smile. "That's my girl."
