Chapter 15
"Play at letter G," Andrew said. Andrew clapped his hands together to give the mellophone players the tempo. The mellophone players got to playing position, and they played at letter G in the music. Andrew cut them off just before the section went onto the next letter in the music. "Good; it's just dragging a little," he said. Andrew then clapped again. Cody and John played the musical parts that they shared together.
"Count, if you're not playing!"
Cody played his part of the music faster. John followed Cody's led in the music, but he added dynamics to the music. Andrew cut them off.
"Well, I hear John crescendoing. Why aren't you crescendoing," Andrew asked.
"I was trying to get the fingerings down in time," Cody replied.
"Well, don't forget about the dynamics."
