◄ Chapter 5 ► I Know That You Like Me

Start from the beginning

"I'm sorry for flicking you off, I really didn't-"

"Do you know why I didn't send you to the office?" He cuts me of sharply.

"Because you knew I didn't mean it?" I ask my voice gradually getting higher.

"No," he shook his head. "Because I need a favor." He turns on his heels and walks towards his desk. "You're pretty." He turns and sits on his desk.

"Thank you?" I arch my brow. "But aren't you-"

"Have no intentions doing anything with you Ms. Roth." He cuts me off again. "Like I was saying," he continued. "My nephew is a little shy when it comes to girls." He starts unbuttoning the cuffs in his sleeves.

"Ok and?" I arch my brow.

"Well he's shy in general. I want you to talk to him, become his friend." He grips the edge of his desk.

"I don't even-"

"Ethan Ross." He cuts in.

"Ethan Ross. Got it." I gave him a thumbs up.

"Don't be afraid to, you know." He motioned to his chest area. "To flirt with him, break him out of his shell."

"Are you implying I have-"

"Not implying anything but if that's what it takes. Then yes." He nods his head and I frown.

"I don't even know what he looks like. I never heard of the name Ethan Ross." I cross my arms over my chest.

"You'll know when you see him." He smiled at me and I snorted walking off.

"Do you know an Ethan Ross?" I ask Destiny while inspecting a cherry tomato.

"Yeah, he's in our Civics class." She nods her head.

I drop my fork and it falls into the container of salad I brought from home but no longer had an interest in eating.

"Really?" My eyes widen.

"Yeah, he sits in the back, never really talks though. I didn't know he was there until I was passing back papers and had to return his saying he wasn't in our class." She twirled her fork in her pasta, collecting spaghetti noodles on it.

"Do you remember what he looks like?" I lean forward, crossing my arms on the table.

"Yeah, the back us his hair was up as if he didn't bother brushing it. The sides were pushed to the front and the front covered his eyes. For someone who lived in California he's pretty pale and he's very lanky. He's hot though." She smiles and I roll my eyes.

"All guys are hot to you." I pick my fork back up and scrape it along the side of my bowl, plucking the tomato off of it.

"Because they're guys." She says axiomatically. "Why are you so interested in this Ross kid anyway?"

"Well his uncle is my anatomy teacher and I accidentally flicked him off. Instead of sending me to the office he told me I had to befriend Ethan." I tuck my hair behind my ear.

"How do you accidentally flick off a teacher and not get in trouble?!" She exclaims loudly and I quickly reach over and cover her mouth with my hand.

"Shhh." The librarian snapped harshly, peeking around the bookshelf she was currently behind.

I give her a sheepish smile and Destiny just rolls her eyes. I move my hand from Destiny's mouth and she lifts her fork up to it.
