The corpse lay on the ground, my sword deep inside him. A grin spread across my face,
"VICTORY!" the commotion around me stopped, and everyone stared.
"We've won!" one of my soldiers shouted.
"NOOOO!" screamed an opponent, more cheers and cries- "WOOOOOOOO!!"
"It's all over!"
"YESSSSSSSSS!" they continued shouting and I was overcome with joy. So I went back to my tent to celebrate the victory.
"Mistress Catia, what should we do with the captives?" colonel Switz approached me, taking a bow first.
"Hmm..." I smiled, "hang them tomorrow, at noon." He bowed again and left my tent. I looked down at my hand; the ring was shining in the glorious light. The red ruby was beautifully dangerous, and mine! I knew what power it held but I wanted that power, looking at it took me back to the day I claimed it- the biggest battle of my life...
I could see the sweat dripping from his head, he was scared, just as scared as I was.
"Scared?" he asked, I came back to what was happening.
"No, you?" an evil grin plastered on my face, "You look a bit...off colour." He raised his eyebrows,
"Never." He spat.
"Good, now, shall we begin?" I held my sword up higher ready to fight.
"Fine. But, you do know that you'll loose?" he laughed, "I mean, you're a woman..." he continued snorting as if I were some sort of a joke.
"I've got this far, haven't I?" he was brought to silence instantly. And the fight began. It was like it went on forever, our swords clashed and clanged. We both received several scratches and gashes. Until I had him on the ground with his and my sword at him. There was a gasp from the crowd around us, and I laughed.
"Ha, you thought you would win because I'm a woman. Guess you were wrong." I lunged both swords into him and left them sticking out of him before saying; "Now no-one will get in my way of getting that ring!" and I went off towards the caves.
I entered the forbidden caves, not knowing what lied ahead of me. For miles there was nothing but the sound of dripping water, suddenly the sound of the water was overcome by the sound of a very loud angry growl. I held my lantern further out in front of me so I could see better. I then noticed the magnificent creature; it's razor claws glistened in the light of the flame, it's humongous wings spread across the ground so there was no way around it. I then noticed that the poor creature was chained up, I wasn't going to fight it, so I walked over to the chains. It growled again.
"Shhh, there there. I'm not here to hurt you; I'm going to help you." Up close it was amazing, and I quickly broke the chains with my sword releasing the creature. It hesitated for a moment but then rushed past me, I quickly forgot about the feeling when you do something good and got back to why I was here.
I finally entered the opening that held the ring. There was an alter in the middle with the ring in a glass case on top of it. I started towards it, beaming with joy.
"Not to fast missy!" a familiar voice behind me broke the joy and my smile became a scowl. I turned to my uncle holding my sword ready for a fight.
"Hello uncle." My mischievous grin reappeared. My uncle had taut me nearly everything I knew to use for good, he wasn't going to stand back and watch me take the most evilest and powerful ring in the world.
"Don't do it Catia, please." He pleaded.
"Oh, there's no need to beg. I'm not 'evil' I just took a different path to 'good'."
"No, you are evil."
"Evil? Ok, now that's not true." I made an innocent face.
"No, you're right...it's an understatement!" rage and hatred ran through his eyes.
"Well, if that's how you feel..." I stuck him with my sword, he blocked it with his.
"Don't make me fight you Catia!"
"You know what, do you remember what you told me last time I saw you? You were right; there's no hope for me, I'm too far gone!" I struck again, and he blocked. Before long it was a full blown fight, almost even, almost.
"You're old uncle, you don't stand a chance against me! Give up and you can walk away from this!" I didn't really want to kill him, he was the only family I had left- as I was his.
"NO! Catia...what would your parents think?" he tried to soften me, but I was stronger than that.
"I don't know..." I then pulled a very sarcastic sad face, "she's dead! Am I supposed to ask her?" my anger rushed through me and I got stronger in the fight, he was on the ground, "HI mum, what is you take on what I'm doing?" I paused for a while, "Sorry uncle, no answer. Wait I have an idea, ask her yourself!" I stabbed him straight through the heart.
"W...why?" he asked.
"You wanna know?" I crouched down and whispered in his ear, "Because it's fun!" I laughed and picked up the ring. I placed it on my finger as my uncle died, I could feel it's power urging through me. I decided I had to test it, just encase.
"Let's see what you can do..." I pointed my finger at part of the cave and there was a bang and it made a hole in the wall in the cave so I stepped out of the cave and became mistress Catia several weeks later after everyone discovered the power of the ring.
Coming back to reality, I forgot about that day and went outside to celebrate the victory with my army.
