Victoria
“I just gave you money! What the hell did you do with it?”
“Paid the water bill, which
you were supposed to do!”
“Maybe I would have if you--”
“Jesus Christ!” I shrieked, throwing my bag to the floor and pulling at my hair. “Just shut up!”
The yelling ceased and my mom poked her head into the living room. “Victoria?”
I just stared at her. The tears were falling freely and I didn’t bother to contain the sobs.
She walked towards me. “Victoria, what’s wrong?”
“You two just, you never shut up, and it just, you don’t…” I stammered. “Ugh!” I screamed, beyond frustrated.
My dad appeared in the doorway. “What’s going on?” As he saw me sobbing, he added, “Are you okay?”
Was I okay? “No!”
My mom tried to coerce me into sitting down on the couch, but I jerked away like I had been shocked.
“He’s dead, Mom. One of my best friends, is dead, and you guys are still fighting, and I just can’t deal with all of this shit right now!”
Their eyes were wide. “What happened?” she asked in horror.
“He killed himself,” I sobbed. “The bastard killed himself.”
For once, they didn’t fight.
