I had to wait a whole week to see my brother again which was agony. I had no contact with him at all during his stay at the hospital. When my mom and I went to pick him up, it reminded me of the day the two of them picked me up from that same building.

Jace looked healthier and less afraid of the world around him. I watched as he said goodbye to Emma. They hugged for a long time before she kissed him and scurried away. The southern nurse shook her head disapprovingly but there was a ghost of a smile on her lips.

Jace still had the bandages on his wrists and began squirming whenever someone looked at them for too long but there was a noticeable difference in his character. He was more cheerful and open to things. Group had really helped him.

I dragged everyone, including Harry, out for ice cream and the lot of us sat in a shaded place next to the fro-yo shop. Things were finally starting to look up for us four.

The events of that summer will always serve as a reminder of how screwed up we all once were but they will also tell the strength of one family and how we carried each other out of the darkness.
