Firing the gun with care,
Trying to ignore the explosions everywhere
Seeing dead bodies scattered on the ground
Hoping friends and family are safe and sound.
Knowing that the enemy's near
Trying to hide his rising fear
Fighting with life on the line day and night
Wondering if they will see next morning's light
Seeing a friend die in his arms
anger rages through him and he fights to keep calm
Wondering what we are actually fighting for
Thinking of a world without conflict or war
Slowly dying, looking at the evening sky
Wondering how much time has passed by
All around him he hears agonizing cries
Thinking of family he closes his eyes.
