"Zarah do you want the red henna or the black one " Khairat asked her

"I think you should get the red one. It's more befitting for your skin tone"  kalimat one of the bridesmaids said.

"No I think you should mix them it will look spectacular I promise Ko Ba haka Ba Xee" fauxiya the maid of honor asked Zainab (Xee) another cousin who is also a bridesmaid

"Yes it will look great on you" Fantu agreed

"I think I will get the red one. I am not too sure about the black I might react to it"

"That's true" the bride agreed "do the red just to be safe"

"Why didn't you get yours done when the henna designer came now when will you get it "

"She was busy being introduced to all the family members she was more tired than I the bride"

"Ya Allah that day I answered so many questions"

"It was so funny you should have seee.."

My phone started ringing from across the room atop the drawer chest where I left it " please Xee can you help me with my phone. You are closer to it"

She picked it up and checked the ID before giving it to me " it Ismail " she frowned slightly " you guys are pretty close huh?"

"Yea this is like the gazillionth time he is calling you" Kalimat said

"I swear she is closer to him than anyone of us here" Khairat offered

"Really? Even me " Yusra said with an exaggerated hurt look on her face

"You guys are silly. We just have chemistry"

"Ooooo. You see Xee I told you so" fauxiya gave Xee a triumphant look

I smiled and made no effort in correcting or explaining further. I did not know which one of them he wanted to make jealous but I am starting to suspect Xee so I just played along

I cut the call and continued to listen to them gist.

"Hey why did you do that " Fantu asked suprised

"Just cause" I shrugged

"Oh I know you are playing hard to get right" interjected Kalimat

I shrugged again

Khairat smirked " yeah make him suffer sistur"

Everybody laughed except Xee.

Soon Khairats phone started buzzing " dearest twin what can I do for you" she answered devilishly

"Oh I don't know which 'she' you are referring to  but Yusra, fauxiya , Xee , Kalimat and I are all here. Oh and Elle"
*pause
"Oh but I don't think she wants to talk to you"

Fauxiya rose and went to the bathroom

Yusra yelled from across the room " wallahi I am not giving you. Nayi mata miji already"

Khairat laughed "he said you should shut up and thank your lucky stars he is allowing you to get married. "

"As if" she laughed out loud

"Oh ho. I have said it already"
"Who's hungry" fauxiya peeped from the doorway

"I am"Xee said with a frown on her face before rising and leaving the room with fauxiya

Khairat said "he said what time will you  be ready for today's event. He said he will be the one to take you, you shouldn't go with anybody."

"Wai ma. She ain't going nowhere with him" Yusra looked to me
