Ever since Althea had left Zeke alone with Hamlet in the garden, he couldn't help but feel like something was terribly wrong.

The way that she had answered her phone wasn't reassuring either. She had seemed so distant and cold in that instant. A side to her that Zeke knew she had but hadn't really seen with his own eyes until now.

And he didn't know how to feel about it.

Obviously the phone call was about her job and her line of work was dark. Mafia wasn't a clean job and seeing her on duty was creating mixed feelings in Zeke.

Thinking about a million things that Althea could be doing at her job wasn't Zeke's worst problem. What worried him was that he wasn't scared of her as much as he should be. It was unsettling. Like he had a death wish or something.

Normal people had this little part in their brain that usually went berserker when they were in danger or should be scared. That part in Zeke's brain was damaged. Surely. Otherwise he wouldn't be strolling through the Mafia manor waiting for Althea's return.

He just wanted to check on her, maybe see her and tell his brain, 'look; see that beautiful woman there... she's bad for you.' So that it would knock some sense into him. He also wanted to see her and continue their unfinished conversation.

That meeting with that Mutt was still unnerving him. The jealousy rising in him wanted Althea to tell him nothing is going on between her and Matthew.

So one, Zeke knew to stay away from her and two... he wanted to hear that she was single.

Those were two very different things.

Life was never this complicated. Right now even he had problems understanding what he was feeling.

Zeke turned around to take another lap inside the house. He descended the stairs and came to the second floor. Just as he was walking down the hall, he saw Althea going inside her office through her double doors.

Zeke's eyes lit up at finally laying eyes on her after waiting half the day for her return. But a second later, that light in his eyes dimmed. Because that Mutt was following her closely behind and going inside the office after her.

Just before Matthew disappeared behind those doors after Althea, he turned his head and locked eyes with Zeke.

The Mutt had the nerve to smirk at Zeke's face and then close the doors after them.

Zeke was pissed that Matthew was getting under his skin but he couldn't help it! He just had a punchable face. Would it be so bad if Zeke broke that straight nose of his?

Zeke started to think fast. He didn't want Matthew in Althea's office and needed an excuse to barge in there.

An idea came to Zeke and he quickly made his way downstairs to the kitchen. It was a lame idea but it was the only thing that he could come up with right now.
