I rewrote this because I decided I wanted to take the story in a completely different direction than I originally anticipated, so if you read this before, please reread. :)

Sorry it's really short. I'm tired, so you get a small sampling of what is to come in my first Supecorp fanfic.

Lena watched the clock on her desk impatiently as she waited on her mother. It was a quarter past one, and she was supposed to arrive for lunch at 12:30. She didn't know why she even tried to make plans with the woman who raised her when time after time, without fail, she'd bail with no notice. She wondered why it was too much to ask for anything more than the occasional email from her mother containing nothing more than just a few words, just formalities.

She knew that her mother was no good, that she'd tried to do things to harm the people Lena loved, but still, she craved the love she'd never get. The love she never deserved, or so she thought. Though she was smarter than the average bear, she knew her mother would never approve of her. She never quite fit the mold her mother had set out for her. No matter how many times she tried to do what her mother wanted, she wasn't good enough. She pretty much gave up all hope of having a real connection when she, multiple times, declined her mother's pleas to join her in her xenophobic ways.

Lena, no longer hungry, got up and tossed her Greek yogurt and chicken salad sandwich into the bin next to her desk. Knowing she had way too much work to do to just sit around and sulk, she put her thoughts deep into work. Before she knew it, it was 7:50, and she was decently pleased with the work she'd done. While packing up her stuff, she began to fantasize about the food she threw away, wishing she'd saved it. She knew she needed to eat or else she would be less productive the next day.

She walked out of her building and smelled the familiar smell of the East Asian restaurant down the street from the L-Corp Headquarters. Her stomach began to rumble and she knew what she was eating for dinner. Almost instantly, she thought of Kara, and her love of potstickers. Grinning like an idiot, Lena pulled out her phone.

She didn't want Kara to thing she was needy, especially considering she was always the one asking to hang out. She couldn't help but think about Kara getting annoyed at her texts. Kara always seemed happy to hang out, but more than sometimes she would cancel with no explanation further than a "sorry, something came up". There were even times where Kara would just full on leave in the middle of their hangouts. Lena hesitantly typed out a simple message.

Lena: Are you hungry?

Kara <3: Why are you even asking. You know I'm ALWAYS hungry :D

Lena: That's what I thought. How fast can you get to L-Corp?

Kara <3: I'm 5 minutes away.

Lena: Why are you always so close by? Are you stalking me? ;)

Kara <3: No, maybe it's just my superpower.

Lena: Haha, just hurry up. I think I might finally out eat you tonight.

Kara <3: Whatever you say.

Kara, across town, rolled her eyes. Lena could never eat more than her. After putting out a house fire, Kara flew home. Staring at her cardigan filled wardrobe, she knew she had nothing to impress Lena. Every time she went somewhere with her best friend, she felt the need to impress her, though she never could compare to Lana's flawlessly put together outfits. Even though they'd been best friends for several months, she always felt extremely intimidated by Lena. The way Lena would look at her so intensely, she couldn't help but feel embarrassed by her "fashion" choices she knew she was judging her on. Why else would she look her over almost a million times.

Kara looked at the back of her closet and saw the black, slim fitting dress she wore during her manic, red-kryptonite induced rage. She didn't own anything else like it. It fit perfectly and complimented her figure in a way that her floofy sundresses just didn't. She never wore it because it drew attention, and if she was planning on keeping her identity a secret, attention wasn't something that was to be desired. However, Lena's attention was something she wanted desperately. She wanted to shock Lena, show her a side of herself that was confident. Even if she didn't believe she was, she figured she'd just fake it till she made it, so she, almost shyly, put on the dress. But, because Kara was Kara, she threw a white cardigan on top.

She panicked when she realized she had said five minutes four minutes ago, so she scrambled around her apartment trying to get everything together. Sure, it was a simple dinner with her best friend, but she didn't want to look like a mess. She rapidly brushed her hair and teeth; she may or may not have done them both at the same time. She decided to wear a pair of black flats rather than the heels she almost chose. She grabbed her big white purse, one that would fit her suit in it since she couldn't wear it under the dress. Well, she could, but it'd look ridiculous.

She was about to leave when she realized she smelled of smoke, so she quickly grabbed some perfume off of her dresser and sprayed herself with it. Immediately, a terrible aroma filled the room. Coughing, Kara saw a note sitting where the bottle was.

"This is for ruining mine and Alex's date night last week.

-Maggs"

Kara sighed. She knew exactly what Maggie was talking about. Last week, Kara really wanted cake, but didn't want to get up, so she called Alex saying there was some scary alien activity going on. Once she had her and Maggie, soaking wet for unmentionable reasons, over, she told them to get her cake. Alex angrily stormed out, while Maggie said something along the lines of "I'm going to get you back for spoiling our fun." Kara hoped that flying would get rid of the smell. She gave a deep sigh and left smelling like a smoky skunk.
