I couldn't believe that highschool was finally ending. After four agonizing years.

From what I have heard, you've gotten a football scholarship at Duke. And I am going to Princeton which means that we would probably never meet again.

This small town is a prison for me. It makes me feel lost.

And I can't wait to get out of here.

All I want to do is leave and start afresh. Away from you.

And yet I don't.

Love does that to people.

Since I was 10, all I wanted was for you to notice me, talk to me.

You finally did.

And I was the happiest girl on this planet when you asked me to be your girlfriend.

Everything was fine.

Everything but you and I.

I still remember that night as clear as day.

The night that wrecked us.

You had texted me and told me you were coming over.

You reached after about fifteen minutes. I had invited you in but you said you were in a hurry.

I asked you what was wrong but you just closed your eyes and sighed.

And then came the worst part.

You began, 'April I'm sorry but we can't be together. We just can't. It's best if you forget about us. That we ever happened. I'm sorry. I really am.'

And then you walked away.

Just like that.

Without a care in the world.

And all I could do was stare and try to process what you had said.

My whole world fell apart with just a few words from you.

And I broke down.

You had told me to forget about us.

But I can't.

How can I ? Afterall it is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

You are the best thing that has happened to me.

And yet,
The worst.
