I'm Watching

"I'll survive Laf!" You said for the millionth time.

"You don't know ze Alexander like I do." He argued.

"Oh I'm positive I know him in different ways than you do."

"Y/N ce qui est arrivé à la petite fille innocente que j'ai connue?!"

"Elle mourut." You giggle, earning a glare of warning from Lafayette.

"You know I'm just trying to look out for my little sister." Laf commented.

"It's just one date. I'll survive to see you again."

"Y/N-"

"Laf, I'll be fine."

"Okay okay." He sighed, running his hands through his already messy bun. "I love you mon arachide."

"Bringing out the childhood nicknames huh?" You smile. "Love ya too grande baguette."

"Hey, I'm pretty sure mother did not nickname me after the bread-"

You froze at the Laf's mention of your mother, eyes watering.

"Oh non non, Y/N I'm so sorry, I've ruined your night and it hasn't even started." He stressed, immediately bringing you in for a hug.

Mother had died last year to cancer, leaving you alone since your father had died before you were born.

"It's okay Lafayette."

"Oh now you're cross with me." He pouted.

"How do you know I'm cross with you? Because I'm not.."

"You are petite fille, you used my full name."

You gasp in sarcasm, holding a hand over your chest dramatically. "Oh no! Your full name! Would you prefer, Marie-Joseph Paul Yves-"

"NO Y/N STOP."

"Roch Gilbert du Motier de-"

"BAD! NO!"

You took a breath of air, "La Fayette, Marquis de La Fayette."

"Was that the necessary?"

"Of course bro."

You both walked to the restaurant in silence once more, you not worried for this hadn't been your first date with Alex. Of course, you guys had been dating for 6 months now.

You were a freshman at King's college, Alex a Sophomore and Lafayette the same.

Lafayette broke the silence, "You know, as much as I joke about my disapproval with Alexander, Mére would be so proud. You've come so far, and I know she would've loved ze Alex-"
