Chapter 23

The next morning
I woke up still really sore. I walked in the bathroom and stared at the big bruise around my eye. I took off my clothes and saw the other bruise on my side. I turned on the shower and got in and tried to relax while the hot water hit my body. After I was done I put a towel around me and walked back in the guess room and put my clothes on and my phone started ringing it was Taylor.
"Hello." I said
"Hey Shanti, guess what!?"she said sounding really excited
"What?"
"Kirk purposed to me last night!" She said
"Wow that's great." I said wishing I could get as excited as I wanting to
"What's wrong?" She asked
"Nothing i'm fine, so when are y'all getting married?" I asked trying to change the subject
"Well We're having the wedding in Atlanta so we're coming down today." She said getting excited again
"Yay what time you gonna be here?" I said
"Well we just landed now." She said"So be ready cause I'm coming to get you and your gonna come help me and I'm not asking I'm telling you , alright I gotta go bye." She said then hung up
I got up and went back in the bathroom and changed into some sweatpants and black tank top and put my black huaraches on and put on some dark sunglasses to cover up the bruise. I kept my hair in a ponytail and walked downstairs to get my keys but I couldn't find them and also Nathaniel was gone so he must've took them. I remembered that he had two cars so I got his other keys and got in his BMW I really couldn't care less right now. I drove Home and saw August was home so I didn't go in because I didn't want to tell him what happened last night right now. So I got out the car and just stood at the door August opened the door.
"Hey Baybeh."he said
"Hey." I said softly
"I ain't know you was comin taday." He said
"I know I had to come here because Taylor was coming to pick me up." I said walking in still talking softly
"What's wrong witcha?" He asked
"Nothing." I said "Is Hayden sleep?" I asked while sitting on the couch and he followed me
"Yeah ,but for real what's wrong ?" He asked again
"August there's nothing wrong with me." I said
"Then why ya acting different?" He said
"I'm not acting different,Can you stop asking all these questions?"
"Ight whatever." He said then we just sat there in silence
I really hate keeping things away from him. I'm already not telling him that Kayla's baby isn't his.
We sat there for a little bit long then he grabbed me and started kissing me and I kissed him back and held on to him tightly.Then he picked me up and sat me on his lap still kissing me then moved to my neck. And his hands roomed to my side and placed his hand there but it made me flinch so I got off
"Shanti what's wrong with you?" He asked again
"I'm just not in the mood for that right now." I said sitting back down on the couch and August just stared at me then reached for my glasses but the doorbell rang and  I hopped up and answered the door.
"Hey Taylor." I said hugging her
"Hey girl." She said hugging back and l let her walk in
"Hey August." She said
He nodded and looked back at his phone
"Ight come on we gotta go." She said
"Bye baby." I said Kissing August before Taylor pulled me out the door
"So where are we going?" I asked Taylor while we got in the car
"I need to talk to the wedding planner and I wanted to go look at some dresses and see what they got ." She said starting the car
"Okay." I said getting on my phone
"So what you been up to?" She asked
"Nothing ."
"Come on tell me." She said
"I said nothing."
"Girl I know when you lying and when there something wrong with you so tell me what's going on." She said
"I'll tell you later ." I sad as she pulled up at the dress store
"No tell me now." She said parking and turning off the car
"Alright in the store." I said getting out and speed walking in the building
"Wow this is cute." I said touching a random dress while Taylor walked in behind me
"Tell me." Taylor said turning me around
I explained everything to her except what happened last night
"Okay, I have someone's ass to beat okay but you said you have something planned so I don't see why your so depressed."
"I'm not depressed." I said as we walked around some more
"Okay, wait why you got those glasses on in here." She said
"Cause I want to." I said
"Take them off." She said snatching them off my face
"Ah Hell Naw!!" Taylor's yelled
"Shh." I said grabbing my glasses back and putting them back on
"No!, Did you tell August about this!?" She yelled again
"No, stop yelling people are staring." I said
"I don't give a fuck!" She continued to yell then grabbed my arm and pulled me out the store and to the car and we got in
"Where we going now?" I said
"Were gonna show August this shit what you mean where we going." She said driving
"No!" I said
"And why the hell not!?" She said
"Because I don't want him to try to fight him or anything." I said
"Okay if August don't I will." She said after pulling up at the house and getting out and opening my door and pulled me in .
"August!" She yelled to him
"What!" He yelled back coming to the top of the stairs
"Why y'all back?" August asked
"Take the glasses off Ashanti." She said
"I don't know what your talking about." I said
"Ashanti take the fucking glasses off."
I smacked my lips and took them off
"Wha' da fuck is dat?" He said coming down stairs
"Nathaniel hit her,when?" She said to August then me
"Last night." I said
"And you won't gon tell me about this." He said grabbing my face and looking at it
"Did he hit you anywhere else." He said looking at my arms then I lifted up my shirt and he looked that at it and pressed on it.
"Ow!" I yelled
"Come on." He said for me to follow him
He got a bag of ice and set it on my eye
"August you to calm I'm really bout to go beat this nigga ass!" Taylor yelled
"You don't need ta do all dat I got all dat." He said
"Your not doing none of that either." I said
"Who said dat." He said
"Me your not doing nothing."
"So your really just want us to not do anything about this!" Taylor said
"Taylor I'm not saying that." I said
"Then what are you sayin."
I was about to say something but my phone rang and it was a text message for Kayla we actually got cool in the past week. I opened my phone and read the text
Kayla-Hey Ashanti is August home because I just pulled up and I wanted to tell him everything
Me-Yeah actually we both here so I'll open the door
I got up and went towards the door and opened it.
"Hey Kayla." I said hugging her and she hugged back.
I let her in and closed the door and Taylor and August was just standing there confused
"August I need to talk to you." Kayla said
"About wha'?"He said
I grabbed Taylor and we walked in the kitchen and let them talk.
A few seconds later there was a loud knock on the door. I walked out the kitchen and walked to the door and opened it and Nathaniel was standing there.
