54. Adult-ish

I quickly look at Leo so I wouldn't have to stare at Luke's eyes. I can't believe I was going to let Luke kiss me. I need to get him off my mind completely.

-Didn't you see we were busy over here?!-Luke says to Leo

-Didn't you hear the song just ended? Now, it's my turn- Leo says

-That was the deal, Luke, the song is over- I walk a step backwards to get farther from Luke

-Shall we?- Leo lends me his hand, I put my hand on his and we leave

I thought we were going to dance but apparently he has other plans because we walk out of the ball room through the back door.

-What's going on?- I ask

-I wanted to ask you something... would you go out with me... on date?- Leo asks

For a brief second, I didn't know what to answer. It's not that he wasn't attractive or that he wasn't a good guy, but I didn't have those kind of feelings for him. The only guy I can think of is Luke, even if I don't believe in anything he says.

-Leo... I don't...- I didn't know exactly how to let him down easy but I couldn't say yes either

Suddenly I look up, at the back door of the ballroom, which is behind Leo. I see Luke hiding quickly so I wouldn't see him.

-Nicole?!- Leo gets my attention again

-... I don't think there's a better idea than that one- I kiss Leo without thinking it twice

I could see he was surprised at first because he didn't even flinch but later he kisses me back. While he pulls me closer, I'm looking behind him again and I see Luke watching, he's not trying to hide anymore. He's actually looking directly at the scene. By his look, I could swear he is hurt. He walks inside without saying anything.

I break off the kiss, realizing the whole thing was wrong. I used Leo to hurt Luke, I caused a mess because I couldn't be mature enough, and then again I was supposed to be 18 already.

-What's wrong?!- Leo frowns

-I gotta go inside, I'm sorry, I'll call you later- I run inside, looking for Luke but he is nowhere to be found

I run to the restroom to wash my face. I couldn't believe what I just did, I feel ashamed because of my actions, I don't care what Luke has done, I'm supposed to be the better person and I shouldn't have use Leo.

I begin to hear voices of girls coming inside the restroom. I quickly hide inside an empty stall because I didn't want anyone to ask me what's doing the birthday girl in the restroom. Few seconds pass and I begin to notice it's actually Maddison with her friends.

-Remind me why we came again?- Maddison's friend says

-I told you already, I want to see what Luke is going to do to get Nicole back, there's no way I'm going to let it happen- Maddison says

-Isn't it a little bit late for that? He even composed a song for her_ Her friend says

-As much as I hate to admit, Nicole is not that dumb to fall for that trick, but I know Luke when he wants something, he doesn't stop until he gets it- Maddison says
