"Now we have discussed a lot of what happened days before the incident but I would like to go back a bit in time a discuss a couple of things." Alison informed me she would abruptly change the subject. Apparently it was how you kept people captivated for a long interview like this.
"Yeah of course, what would you like to discuss."
"I want to start with how you first got into acting."
I just nodded letting her know to go ahead. She was going to delve into my childhood and how I became the Miah Reeves.
"You and your brother got into the industry at the age of nineteen correct?"
"Technically that was when both of our careers went 'Hollywood'. I was acting since I was seventeen and my brother was making music since he was fourteen." When we turned nineteen everything started to fall into place and I landed my first official movie and my brother was signed to Dream Records.
"You and Meo raised yourselves, correct?"
"Technically yes, but we had moved in with Donna, my hairstylist, she knew my mom since they were young and she took us in when she realized that my mother wasn't taking care of us. We were about fifteen at the time. Before then we were on our own fending for ourselves. We were too prideful to ask for help." I still was too prideful to ask for help. I hated to burden myself on someone. I used to think I could do everything on my own.
"So how did you get into acting?"
"I was acting out a lot at school and my principal along with Donna thought it was best if I did something that would keep me out of trouble. So they put me into the drama club at school and I fell in love with acting." I remember the first time I was given a script I laughed in my teachers face but when I started to try and participate in class activities I realized how fun it was.
"What or who made you start auditioning for real roles?"
"I was naturally good at acting so my drama teacher started to push me to do auditions for commercials and local plays." She really believed in me and it was really what got me out of the situation I was in. Without my drama teacher I probably would have ended up like my mother.
"What was the first gig that you got?" I smiled at that question. Memories of the first commercial I ever did popping in my head.
"It was one of those back to school commercials. It was for the department store Giants." I told her while chuckling. I cringe every time I watch it.
"So now your mother, she is known to be in and out of your life, correct?" I hated speaking about my private life but I had to do this, I had to be able to move on from everything that had happened. I took a deep breath in and began.
"Yes, she would disappear for days, sometimes weeks."
"Now how was she when Donna took you and Meo in?
"She would stay away longer." She figured that since someone else was taking care of us she would be able to go do God knows what.
"Do you know what she would do when she would disappear?"
"When we were younger we didn't but as we got older we started to realize it was mostly drugs. She would run off with a different man every time and get high for days."
"Did she ever bring the drugs home with her or any of the men?"
"She did, she brought home a man who was horrifying. They were together for two years. He was a horrible person, he hit Meo once and she kicked him out after that. She never brought anyone around after that."
"Did you ever give her money?" I hated this question because it reminds of how stupid I am.
"When my brother and I started to make money she would come around asking and I gave her a couple of times."
Alison nodded, motioning me to continue talking. They didn't want me to answer with short sentences, they wanted explanations.
"I was young and naive, I believed if I gave her money she would want to be in our lives. But I slowly started to realize that no matter what I did she didn't really care about me." At this point I did not care if people knew what my mother did and what she put me through. It was time to expose her for the person she really was.
"Now your father, when was he locked away?"
"He was locked away in 1999 when Meo and I were six years old."
"When did you find out that your father was locked away?" I remember that day clearly, I didn't even understand what it even meant at the time.
"It was around the same time my mom started disappearing which was about a year after he was put away."
"Were you ever in contact with him when you were young?"
"No, my mother wouldn't allow it. She would tell us he didn't want us when the entire time he was away he would write us letters and send birthday cards. She somehow always hid them and then when we moved in with Donna he had no idea so they kept getting sent to my mothers house."
"When did you find the letters?"
"My brother found them when we were seventeen, it was the first time he visited my dad. My dad told him about the letters so my brother went searching for them. He found them hidden in a box in the back of my mothers closet."
"Have you read the letters?"
"The majority of them." I started reading them when we found them but then I got too angry and frustrated and I stopped. I started to read them again after the heartbreaking incident happened.
"Now your brother gained worldwide attention when he dropped his mixtape 'Street Kids' before he was ever signed to a label. Did it ever get in the way of your relationship?"
"No, we got even closer actually. Being twins I think helped a lot"
"In what way did it help?"
"Well we're obviously the same age so we could relate on a lot of things. We also had a connection, it might sound crazy, but we could always tell when the other was angry or upset. And if ever something bad happened to the other we could immediately feel it in our gut. I found that made us a lot closer because we could never really hide anything from each other."
"But you were able to hide the notes and the fact that you were being stalked?"
"No actually, he found out."
//WHAT HE FOUND OUT?????
This chapter was more of a get to know Miah chapter.
I was going to do this chapter before starting what happened the week before the tragic incident but I found this would be more interesting because you would have to constantly guess why she made a lot of the choices she did. This chapter would hopefully help show why she is the way she is.
Let me know what you guys wants next, more about Miah and Meo's lives or about what happened before the tragic incident?
Did you like how I set up the story?
Don't forget to hit the little vote button if you enjoyed this chapter.
Thank you!
