Elizabeth

"Lily, sweetie, were here." Tristan wakes up his sister and I look out the window at the house as we pull up the driveway. At the end I see a beautiful house, one just as nice and big as Tristan's.

I hear Liliana yawn and I look over to see her rubbing her eyes with her little fists. It's beyond cute.

We hop out of the car and I wipe my sweaty palms on my dress and exhale low and long. I look up in front of me to see Tristan hold out his hand. I take it gratefully and walk inside.

We walk into the home and I hear the click of high heels coming towards the entrance. "Hello everyone!" Mary calls down the foyer. She come over and hugs everyone. When she turns to me she looks surprised. "Oh hello, Elizabeth. It's so good to see you again!"

"Thanks, you too." I say as she hugs me.

"Well dinners on the table, everyone to the dining room."

We follow her down a large hallway and into a massive dining room. It's beautiful with a large dark wood table and crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling illuminating the room.

I take a seat next to Tristan and an older woman at the end of the table, who I assume to be the infamous grandma.

"Hello, dear, and who are you?"

"I'm Elizabeth, Tristan's fr-"

"She's my girlfriend, grandma." Tristan answers for me.

Her face seemed to light up. "Oh, darling that's wonderful!" she says to Tristan. She turns to me. "Come closer, dear, let me get a better look at you." I shoot Tristan a funny look before scooting closer to her. She takes my face in her soft and wrinkled hands and studies me. After a few seconds she pulls back and smiles at me. "I like you." she says finally.

I looked at her with a confused face. "How do you know that just by looking at me?"

Her eyes twinkle when she says, "Old lady's intuition, my dear." I look over at Tristan, hoping he can decipher what she's saying to me but he's not paying attention.

The dinner is fabulous. But true to my word this morning I only manage to eat a couple things.

"Is the food alright, Elizabeth?" Mary asks.

"Yes it's wonderful. I'm just not used to eating a lot of food."

His grandmother looks at me with concern. "Are you anorexic, honey?"

I feel Tristan stiffen next to me. "No I'm not. It's just that... money's... tight at my house." I try to shrug it off, but she's still looking at me with sad eyes.

"Oh sweetheart." she whispers and rests her hand on my shoulder.

I pat her hand. "It's okay, really it is."

The rest of the dinner went smoothly, although I've noticed that Tristan keeps giving me these looks I can't read.

When dinner is over I start to follow everyone go the sitting area when I feel someone pull me by the arm.
