Some things are not what they seem. The mysterious world of Fairies, Mermaids, and Unicorns that no one really seems to know if it exists, really does. My name is Umani James, I'm 23 years old and a college student majoring in the medical field. My home, A little cottage close to the bay of the Loch Ness Lake in Scottland. This is my story, my proof, that everything we thought were myths, is real. Let's start from the very beginning. Where I was unaware that my life would take a complete turn and change forever.
It was Midnight in the middle of summer. There were no classes to attend because everyone was on break. But I continued to study with my bestfriend, Bella Finch, on the phone to keep me company. Bella had an obsession with playing cupid with me and my crush, Sean White. She believed that since she was in a relationship with her childhood crush, Tyler Cooper, that I should be with mine, and we can be happy together. That's just what bestfriends do. Embarrass you and ship you with everyone you end up liking until the day you die.

"So, I was thinking about having a little get together. Just me, you, Tyler, Sean." She dragged his name out.

"If this is another one of your attempts to get us together than I'll pass." I said

She huffed, " Come on Manny! When do you ever have any fun?" She asked,

I stayed silent, it has been a while, "See! You don't even know!" She shouted.

"Dont you think last time was enough to stop trying?" I asked,

"At least no one got hurt." She said.

My mouth hung open, "I was in a leg cast for three months." I scoffed.

"You're so dramatic." Bella huffed in annoyance.

"Just stop, ok? He's obviously not into me." I said.

She gasped, "How dare you." She said as if she was offended.

I chuckeled, "Fine, how about this, I'll ask my uncle if we can borrow the boat to have a little party this weekend. There'll be food, music and definitely drinks." I said.

I waited for a response but she was silent. I rolled my eyes, "And I'll invite Sean and Tyler." I added.

   "Sounds good!" She squealed

   I sighed, "I'm going to regret this, aren't I?" I asked,

   "Nope." She replied,

"Thats code for yes. Anyways I'm tired, I'm going to go now. Good night B." I said,

"Good night Manny" she said before I hung up.

I sighed as I looked at the many books spread across my desk and continued to study.

"What are the main causes of Lung Cancer?" I asked myself.

Sean's face flickered in my mind, "Breathing in toxic air or cigarette smoke, whether its direct or second hand." I said.

His smile, "What machine do you use when testing blood?" I asked.

His eyes, "the - uh. Next question." I scanned the book,

His laugh, "what are all the blood types?" I continued,

I tried to remember but I couldn't. I could only think of, Him. I slammed my book shut in frustration and rubbed my face, knocking my glasses off. I couldn't see anything. Crouching on the ground I fumbled around, trying to find them. I felt a sudden pain in the tip of my finger, a paper cut. I picked up the paper and from the blur, it looked like a picture. I felt around next to me and ended up bumping my glasses.
I stood up in excitement and hit the back of my head on the bottom of my desk. I whimpered and rubbed the back of my head as I stood up. Successfully this time. Sliding them on I examined the paper in my hand. It was a picture, of my parents. I got angry at myself, why was it on the floor? My parents are dead and the only picture I had of them was on the floor.
I looked around my room and realized it was a mess. My closet was unorganized with loose clothing on the floor and shoes that weren't together. Some papers also made it to the floor and my dresser, and I can't remember the last time I made my bed either. Lotion and perfume were knocked down, littering my dresser like a mini tornado had hit it and candy wrappers scattered across my desk.
Damning my sweet tooth, I picked up the wrappers and threw them in the trash can next to my desk. I needed to clean this place up. I went over to my closet and picked up a pair of jeans. I didn't feel like it, so I threw the pants back down and went over to my dresser. I stood up all the bottles. Who even needs this much lotion? I thought to myself.
I looked at my knees, which were dry and ashy, and shrugged. I huffed and opened the drawer where a tangled pair of earbuds were laying. I picked them up and untangled them, plugging them into my phone and shuffling my favorite playlist. I had to get this done. I went back to my closet and hung all the loose clothing back up. Than I organized my shoes and put them back in their box. I closed my closet door and went back over to my dresser.
Setting up the bottles with perfume on one side and lotion on the other. I went around my room and picked up the dirty cloths. Picking up a pair of socks that weren't mine I smelled them and gagged at the sour smell.

"Uncle Lucas!" I said as I gasped for air.

I threw them in a pile in the corner of my room and went to my bathroom to wash my hands. Disgusting. I went back to my room, picked up the papers and stacked them in a neat pile on my desk. looking around my room I thought, Much better. I laid down on my bed and plugged my phone into its charger. I set my glasses onto my dresser and turned off the light. The dark was always relaxing for me, it helped me think clearly.
As I laid flat on my back I  stared at the ceiling. I miss my parents. Then again I lost them when I was only 8 years old. I never liked to talk about it or even think about it. I hated myself and blamed myself for letting it happen. No one knew what happend to them. Not even Bella. Only me and my family know about the unfortunate event. I'll eventually tell her, just not now. And Sean. Se-

My thoughts shut down as I fell into a deep deep sleep.
