Joao's POV

"Uhm, pwede mo ba ako samahan bukas?" She whispered.

I blinked in surprise.

"Huh? Where?" I asked, suddenly feeling excited.

"Kina Neil."

And just like that, my smile faltered.

'Of course, it has to be Neil. She cares for Neil than you. Or no, she doesn't care about you.' I thought drily.

I bit my lip, blame it on the alcohol but I wanna say no. If she wants me to come with her, I will. But for Neil's sake?

Neil is your friend, you prick.

Yeah, I'm a prick. A selfish prick.

I let out a sigh. My phone is still on my ears. Despite the noise, I can hear her steady breathing.

The memories from earlier are still vivid to me. Though everything still puzzles me.

'Ang pogi ng bestfriend ko.'

'Ang ganda ng boses ni Neil 'no?'

'Sige, kay Joao na lang ako sasabay babe. Basta mag-ingat ka ha.'

'Of course I am. Hindi mababalisa si Neil nang ganun kung hindi seryoso ang nangyari sa kuya niya.'

The way she called him babe. The way she worried so much about him. The way she said yes to me, just because Neil can't. Halos malasahan ko na ang dugo ko sa pagkagat ko sa labi ko.

Bigla akong bumalik sa wisyo nang magsalita siya ulit. Crap!

"Yeah, like your friends will allow you." I told her. There's no way they'll let her commute, alone.

"Of course they will, bakit hindi?" Of course, Sef will always have her comeback.

"What time shall I pick you up?" I purposely disregard what she said. I don't wanna pick up a fight with her again.

It just doesn't feel right.

"No, sorry. I'll ask dad to drive me there tomorrow instead. Enjoy the night, Micael."
