Jane was packing some heavy white clothing for her mission to Russia. Her duffel bag was lumpy, bursting at the seams from the amount she had stuffed in there. She tucked a curly red lock behind her ear until she felt strong arms wrap her waist. She yelped softly and felt a pair of lips ghost across her neck. She smirked.
"I was gonna do that," he whispered into her ear, referring to her lock of hair and sending a chill down her spine.
The redhead turned abruptly in his arms, snaking her own arms around his neck. "I'm gonna miss you, you know?" She said, batting her eyes.
He chuckled at her. "I don't want you going there in the first place, but...it's your job. It's your job, so it's okay. I guess," he mumbled, letting his forehead fall onto hers and linking his hand with hers. "You're gonna be out there in the cold, looking for what, ballerinas?"
"Black widows. They're highly trained little assassins. They could kill you with their thighs alone. Trust me, I've seen the leaked videos from SHIELD."
"Wait...you saw leaked Soviet videos?"
"I work for a special kind of business, Tanner. Remember that," she said, running her hands through his long black hair, trailing them down his sideburns.
"How's your mom feel about this?"
"She used to be an agent too, a spy. Peggy let her go because of her drinking. It's a wonder she's still alive. She lashes out a lot more. I think the alcohol's really seeping into her head," Jane explained, tears leaving her eyes. "And...I-I know why. I know why she's so upset."
"Why?" Tanner asked softly, stroking her cheek and wiping her tears away.
"It's my dad. He...he died before I was born and she said she used to be like me. All spunky and fun. All she's really said is that when my father died, she died too."
"Jane, baby, I'm so sorry," he whispered, taking her hands into his and placing a kiss on her knuckles. "Maybe you should stay. Don't go to Russia. Stay here with me, baby."
"Tanner, you know I can't do that. This-this is my job. I love my job, really, I do. Just keep the sheets warm for me, 'kay?" She asked, cupping his cheek.
