A fiery light appeared, streaming across the pitch black sky, gleaming brightly against the river of glittering stars. Brooklyn watched as the fiery light came crashing down into the earth as she lay on her bed watching out the window.

The meteor crashed to the Earth with a loud boom that shook the house lightly. Brooklyn wondered if she should go check it out, but she resolved go search for the strange meteor tomorrow morning with her friends.

She wondered if anyone else had seen or heard the meteor or if it was just her. As she rested her head on her soft pillow she wondered about the meteor and what she would find. Then, still thinking idly about what she might find, she drifted into a deep sleep.

                                                                   **********************

When Brooklyn awoke the next morning she got out of bed quickly, excited and nervous to go see what had crashed into the earth the night before. She raced down the hall and into the kitchen.

It was a bright, sunny Saturday morning. The window in the kitchen was open, and the soft breeze brought in the soft scents of the grass and flowers of the field they lived in.

"You're in a rush this morning," Brooklyn's Mom commented as

Brooklyn rushed into the kitchen, grabbing a muffin from the counter as she turned and rushed back out again. It was 8:00am and her friends were probably awake by now.

She wolfed down her muffin as she pulled her bike out of the garage and raced down the dirt path, heading towards the town where her friends lived. It would probably still be another hour before she made it to the city. Her family lived several miles away from the nearest city. When she finally reached the asphalt road marking the edge of the town nearly an hour later, she was out of breath from riding through the hilly forest. She kept on peddling despite her exhaustion.

She was almost at her friend Jaxon's house. It was only a few more blocks away. Maybe she could get a drink and catch her breath before they went to get Victoria, who lived only a couple of minutes away from Jaxon.

She turned onto Jaxon's street, searching for his blue 2-story house. When she saw what she was looking for she turned into his driveway and put down her kickstand to keep the bike in place.

She walked up to Jaxon's door and knocked lightly in case people were still sleeping. Jaxons' mother eased the door open cautiously right away.

"Hello Mrs. Smith," Brooklyn said politely.

"Hello Brooklyn, what brings you here so early?" Mrs.Smith replied.

"I came to see Jaxon," Brooklyn offered, reluctant to give up her secret about the meteor. She wanted to be the first one to see it, since she was the first person to spot it anyway.

"I'll go get him; he's in the kitchen eating breakfast." Mrs. Smith swung around and headed to the kitchen, not bothering to invite Brooklyn in. A few seconds later, Jaxon rushed into view, looking excited.

Jaxon stopped in front of the doorway, not stepping out onto the porch. "Hey, Brook," he said, running a hand through his curly brown hair.

Hello, Jaxon," Brooklyn replied, smiling.

"So...," Jaxon began awkwardly. "What are you doing here?"

Brooklyn grinned. "We're going somewhere."

"Where?" Jaxon asked curiously.

"You'll see when we get there. Get ready to go; we have to pick up Victoria and Alex on the way."
