I stood in front of the big building where I was going to be interviewed, having this weird feeling that today everything was going to change for me. Since this is my first interview for a job this serious, my best friend, Andrea, picked out my outfit. My previous job were simple things like retail or restaurants. Nothing major.

Andrea told me to wear a black pencil skirt, with a baby blue buttoned shirt, high heels, and minimal makeup. My hair was the old plain straight I've been having since I popped out of my mom.

I was nervous, I admit that, so I had to wear a ton of deodorant because I sweat when I'm too nervous. Is best to be prepared.

I decided to walk in because standing out here staring at this intimidating place could make me late.

Inside, the floors are dark marble making my heels do this annoying click that powerful women do in movies. I should embrace it then! If I think this silly sound makes me powerful then I better believe it.

No one has greeted me, not even the man sitting at the big and round front desk close to the elevators. I didn't bother and just made my way to the elevators and pressed the button, it quickly opened and a wave of people in suits walked out of it. They didn't even gave me time to move away.

I pressed the twelfth floor button with the same speed as I got inside the damn elevator.

There was no music inside, which made the trip a little longer making me more anxious. I reached the floor and the doors slowly opened. The floors still were a dark marble, but instead of having walls and a big round desk, there were glass windows an empty front desk and behind it there was a big dark wall. There were doors left and right from the desk. I stood there wondering which door to knock since there was no one at the front desk.

I took a deep breath and as I walked to the door on the right side of the desk, the left one opened.

"Ms. Hensley, good morning" a manly voice greeted.

I gasped to myself and looked at the tall muscular man on the other side of the desk. He had brown hair and small brown eyes. He was wearing a dark gray suit with a white shirt and no tie. The shirt was a little unbuttoned, he looked casual but elegant and professional. I smiled softly at him and he smiled back, which it made his eyes shrink a little. I made my way towards him.

"Good morning" I replied.

Yes, it took me a moment.

"Follow me" he walked before me and we entered the last door on the left.

My phone vibrated and I looked at it.

How was it?

It was my best friend and I haven't even started the interview. The man who hasn't introduced himself sat on his leather chair and I decided that I should sit without being invited to.

"How are you feeling today?" he asked me.

It was a weird question for an interview but I went with it "I'm good, and you?"

"I see here in you resume that you have experience with retail" he went straight to my resume and ignored that I was polite enough to ask back, which was cool with me. I know we are not interested in small talk, we just want this done and get this over with.

I just want this job, I need it. Being fired from my last job had me broke for months. My older brother had to help me with my bills and it was not fun for me. I was embarrassed and frustrated, do you have any idea what it feels like to want a chocolate from the grocery store but because of priorities you can't buy it? I was in this constant fear that if I got the chocolate I couldn't get gas to go to interviews or buy something that I actually needed like food or toilet paper.
