(Midoriya's POV + Kindergarten)

"Kaccahn!" I called out. He turned around and grinned at me.

"Deku!!" He replied with his powerful attitude. He had that proud smile on n every time I was around. I didn't think he'd ever stop being so cool.

"Do you wanna play?" I asked him.

"I have something better!" He pulled out a butterfly net and lead me and few others out near the woods. Mesmerized, I followed blindly. We reached an area with a fence against some trees that said we couldn't go through but dispute the warnings, Kacchan didn't care so just moved the broken fencing away with a tree branch on the ground.

"Wait, Kacchan it says we shouldn't be going through here" I pestered him, worried about what would happen if we did.

"Pfftt, don't worry about it. Besides, it was a broken fence in the first place or are you just too scared to go in?" He teased me while the other kids in front laughed with him. I looked down and just went along with them.

"Wow!" I heard Kacchan call as we came across a water stream. It was like a river, but a deep one, almost like a low gorge about a few feet down to some rocks and fast-moving water.

"This is gonna be fun!" He got hyped up but I grew a little scared of what was to come.

"Come on!" He yelled as he climbed on top of a large wooden log that spanned the river a few feet away and started walking over on top of it. The other guys followed him and talked about how brave Kacchan was. I hesitated but eventually, I gave in and just got on top of the log with the.

"Hah wow! This is so cool!" Kacchan gleamed, getting a bit too aggressive for the little space there was on the log. It was a fun view, a funny feeling of excitement until Kacchan fell off the log. In shock and fear, I looked down and saw him trying to get back up from the shallow water. Everyone laughed and cheered him on but I got off the log and down the side of the steep stream town to help him out.

"I'm okay guys!" He yelled while rubbing his head still on his knees in the stream. I to the ledge of the water and held my hand out for him to take. I did my best to try and show him, he could trust me and that he could count on me when he was down. But I don't think he ever got that. He looked at me as if I was some monster, a crazy look of disgust and rage.

"Are you alright? Can you stand?" I wanted to be there for him and show him that I wanted to help. But he refused, I could tell he never wanted my help ever since then.

(Middle School)

I never really understood how I felt about Kacchan. I didn't know whether or not he even ever saw me as a friend in the first place. That thought always made me sad. After all, ever since he got his quick when we were kids, he tried his hardest to tear me down every time I talk about getting mine.

"Your so lucky, Kacchan. Your Quirk's so cool! I hope I get mine soon, too." I cheered at him.

"No matter what Quirk you get, you'll never be better than me."

But why? Even without my Quirk, he's always tried to make me feel even worse about myself for not having one, it was childish and immature but I tried to overlook it. I just want to understand why he enjoys to torment me about this and only me. Yet at the same time its like. Why is it that every time I encounter him, I feel as if there is a light emanating from my body? It's almost as if his cold gaze for such a heated color of eyes, surprisingly somehow only makes me feel warmer inside. Even with all this he still acts like my crying is what gets him off as if hurting me is what makes him happy. It can be scary but, I have mixed feelings about that topic, it's hard to interpret after being so used to it. I don't understand it and have I never understood it .

"Hey, Deku!" I heard an all too familiar voice call,  the name given to me by Kacchan.

I stopped in my tracks from walking in the empty hallway. I turned around practically shaking as I did so, as usual though. Him talking to me at school, in general, wasn't the best experience to ever. Out of all of our past interactions, there have been worse, but school will always be the worse times he approaches me, It probably had to do with the hormones in his constant inflating ego. But it was him, Katsuki Bakugou. A childhood....person I knew. He approached me with his usual slumped posture, his cold-red eyes, and that angered expression he never got over. Such a mean boy for so much potential I wondered. He was bigger than me, I would never really look at him in the eyes. He stood over me and all I could do was just look down hoping he would just make fun of me and not hurt me in the ways he always did.

"Well, if it isn't the Quirkless nerd" He called me with a slight smirk. I knew that name all too well also, one of his favorite names he has for me.

"H-Hi...Kacchan" I tried to make things better but that only made him growl. I think my response only made him more lucid, his eyes widened.

"You won't ever let that name go now won't you, Deku. Tell me how's trying to be a hero working for you?" He teased. I always tried to take note on what it takes to be a hero, what it means to be one, and the path to get there. It was my dream.  I just didn't respond, he knew of this all too well. I still didn't have a Quirk.

"I'm talking to you, nerd!" He yelled at me before pushing me against the wall. I trembled against it but he got closer to me making it harder to breathe, I tried to respond but my throat just closed up. It was pointless to avoid him.

"I-I-I'm s-sorry....i-it's going well." I tried to break through my fears but his breathing was just so hot it I could feel it burning my skin each time he'd yell at me.

"Oh really? I wonder how with how weak you are! Look at you, your too scared to even speak right! You're never gonna be a hero, Deku." The stuff he said wasn't lies. He was right a lot of the time, about me becoming a hero I felt. He grabbed my collar and forced me to look at him. I kept trying to refrain from making eye contact with him, I tried looking at his spiky hair instead or his ears or nose or anything other than his sharp red eyes.

"Look at me, nerd" He demanded, shaking me roughly. I wanted to cry but that would only make him happy. I closed my eyes and opened them ]again. I stared him dead on. My trembling stopped.

"You're pathetic, ya know that?"I did know that. I practically represent that, but what could I really do.

"Don't you ever think your anything greater than that. Got it, Deku?!" He spoke again tightning his grip on me to where I felt as if I was almost choking. I tried to nod my head and he gave up his hold on me. He turned and walked away. Out the hallway, gone. Just like that, these little occurrences of unnecessary tension and the rollercoaster of anxiety he gave me was all to frequent.

This was never something new to me but being a hero means to always smile, even through fear. I can't let him get the best of me next time. I'll try next time.
