Chapter 25....... Plot Twist

I explained everything that happened to me to Mel. It was hard to do and I cried. A lot. She didn't take it well, but who would? Her little sister was almost killed by a psycho ex, but I know Dave wouldn't take it as well as Mel did. Really there was no proper way to deal with this. The way my body handled it was memory loss. But since I am on the subject of Dave I wondered why he was gone for a while, where did he go?

"Mia I'm so sorry." She said as she grabbed my hand

"Thanks." I said

Dave returned after our exchange of words. He had gifts stacked in his hands, it was so high he couldn't see me. And I seen that it was hard for him to see what was in front of him. He peaked his head around the boxes. He was careful with his steps as he came into the room. He placed the boxes down gently and he was huffing, I'm guessing they were heavy or he had come a long way. I gave him a questioning look

"You missed Christmas." He said

I chuckled a little at his breathlessness. He smiled at me and Mel chuckled too

"Were you crying?" He asked

I guess my eyes were red. I didn't want to tell him what I said to Mel just yet. I nodded and Mel just looked at him, I guess she gave him a don't push her look so he didn't push the subject and he handed me a present. It was from my mom and dad. I opened it to reveal a soft blanket, you think I'm 26 and I'm getting a blanket; yet it's so soft and I loved it! The next box Dave gave me was from Mel. She got me new clothes which I liked very much, hers was the biggest gift. I opened a box from my boss, Tara. She got me a new pair of work shoes and a new, better looking uniform, along with a get better soon card

Though I may not be returning to work on the account of what happened, she probably got them before December. Before all of this happened. I looked at her card and smiles. She wished me good luck in my future and that she would always be here for me

Then I opened one gift from my coworkers, it was a bottle of perfume. The last gift was small, Dave fiddled with it before he gave it to me. He sat on the opposite side of Mel and handed me the box. I took it from his shaking hands. I opened the box and I gasped. It was the necklace he gave me for my birthday. I touched my neck and it wasn't there. Why was it re gifted?

"I found it. It was covered in your blood at the house. I had it cleaned for you. I thought that you might like it back because I know how much you loved it. And there's something else there too." He said

I looked at the necklace and I remembered how I wanted to rip it off when I ran back to the house. I still loved it, even after everything that has happened. I felt mad at myself for trying to rip it off but I'm glad I didn't. His words intrigued me so I slowly moved the necklace to see a shiny ring. What I didn't realize was there was a note. I picked it up and looked at it

'Dear Mia
I know from now on things aren't going to be the same, but I will always love you. I won't push you on anything, I promise. I won't leave you, and I will always be here. You're beautiful no matter what. I love you to the moon and back. In this box is a promise ring, I promise to love you till the day I die

I started to cry as I pulled out the ring, it was just absolutely beautiful and it shook in my hands. It glistened in the light it looked amazing

"I love it, and I love you too. I'll put it on later. I don't want to lose it or anything."

I placed them back in the box and placed them on my bed side table, I gave Dave a hug and a kiss as I said thank you. After I put things away a nurse came in
