This time he was the one to break eye contact first and nod to the teacher. I looked back to the class and noticed that we became the center of the students attention, who were either smiling or grinning like madmen.

"Alright, you've got what you need for the experiment we are about to do right in front of you, please proceed in doing it. It's a small experiment, I hope you don't burn down the place."

I obliged and started working in silence, ignoring the fact that I was being stared at by the guy sitting next to me. He was leaning against the chair, and surprisingly, was doing nothing. I rolled my eyes.

"Did they not tell you? Feisty girls kind of interests me," he whispered in my ears, his breath fanning my cheek before he extended his arm on our table, knocking an empty beaker off my side. "Oops," he said, leaning back in his chair.

The teacher looked at me, irritated, "Okay, enough damage. You've been talking ever since class started and now you broke one of the school's appliances. Detention, young lady." my jaw almost dropped at hearing that, been talking ever since class started and I broke the beaker, is she for real?

"I would like to clarify things, I didn't break that." I pointed to the smashed beaker on the floor.

"Yeah? then who did? or you know what, I don't care. You are getting detention after school, I don't have the time to talk about this." she turned her back to me.

I was going to let it go, he was trying to get me mad and I knew it. But, then my brain processed what she just said. Detention after school.

"I can't take it after school. Can I take it after this class or something?"

"I'm sorry, will my detention somewhat ruin your after school plans?" she looked back at me, furrowing her eyebrows. Some of the students around chuckled.

"It's not that, I just can't. I've got PE last class too, can I take it then?"

"Darling, you don't get to choose when your detention is, I do, and I am telling you it's after school. Now, either you let me finish my class silently or just get out."

I stood up from my place, "This isn't even fair, I'm not the one who broke it, he did," I said, pointing at him

"Wow, chill, I didn't do anything! Besides, it was placed at the end of your side of the table not mine. Last time I checked, I'm a normal human being not Helen Parr from The Incredibles. Don't do something wrong and blame it on others, that's bad, Jo-I mean Black." he smirked.

He knew exactly what he was doing, knew what words to use to make me shut up. I took a deep breath and looked around then sat down.

I didn't know how I managed to sit by him without punching him or hurting him for the rest of the class. All I was doing was counting the seconds till it ends, not mentioning my anger which I was rather getting out on my palms by clenching my fists.

The bell rang after a few minutes. I waited until the class was empty and gave up when it came down to him because I felt like he was staying just to see what was I going to do.

I exhaled slowly and made my way to the teacher's desk, "I don't mean to offend you nor provoke you or anything. All I'm asking is for you to just make my detention now instead of it being after class," I said lowly, "Please."
