Gorgeous and the Moron -- Short Story 14

••••••••••••••••

"I'm sick, you moron." I groaned into my phone.

"So, I can't see you then, gorgeous?" Simon asked. I heard him shut his truck door.

"I haven't moved all day. I can't do anything."

"I'll just come and sit with you then."

"Simon, you're gonna get sick." I curled up further under my blankets.

"I never get sick," I could hear the pride in his voice, "Besides, I haven't seen you for a couple of days."

"It's been two days," I managed a laugh, "I miss you too, but I don't want you to get sick."

"Aw come on, Rae. I don't get sick."

"Fine, whatever. Come over then," I sniffed, "but don't blame me when you get sick."

"I'll be fine." Simon laughed, starting his truck up. "See you in like half an hour."

"Moron." I muttered, tossing my phone beside me again.

Knowing Simon, he'll stop at the store before coming here, giving me more than half an hour to get some sleep.

I woke up 20 minutes later thanks to my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I sounded more sleepy than I was.

"Rae, were you sleeping?" Simon sounded concerned that he might have woken me up.

"Like I said, I've been in bed all day. I'm tired." I rolled onto my back, "But what's up?"

"I'm at the store," Knew it, "and I was wondering if you want anything?"

"Hmm," I took a moment, "well my dad's not home and I've wanted soup all day. Could you bring me some? I'll pay you back."

"Don't worry about it," I heard a crash on the other end of the phone, "Uh, Rae, I gotta go. See ya." He hung up before I could ask what all the noise was.

He probably hit a shelf again.

I thought before drifting off to sleep again.

"Good evening, gorgeous." Simon's voice entered my dreams. I woke up instantly.

"Right, I haven't showered today and I've been in bed all day." I rolled over to find him sitting in the chair beside my bed.

"Gorgeous." He grinned, sending me a wink.

"You're a moron."

"You love it."

"Sure." I laughed, causing myself to cough. "How long have you been here?" I felt around my bed for my phone to check the time.

"I dunno." Simon checked the time on his phone, "Like an hour."

"You've been watching me sleep for an hour?" I stared at him. I just wanted to freak him out.

"Er.. well.. uh.." He stammered, obviously embarrassed, "No. When I got here I came up here and you were sleeping so I went back downstairs to watch T.V., but then I thought I should come wake you up."

"Where's my key?"

"I left it on the counter." Simon tends to visit whenever I can't get downstairs to open the door, and because I lock myself out a lot, I started leaving a spare key hidden out front.
