Harper

My phone buzzed as the annoying alarm went off, waking me from my slumber. I peeled my eye lids open and black, yellow, red, and orange spots danced in my vision making me nauseous. I lifted myself up and ran my fingers through my matted hair. I looked around my room until my gaze landed on the photo of Elizabeth and I.

My eyes widened and I bursted out of my bed and into my closet. Clothes scattered my closet floor. My hands ran across the clothing and pulled down black jeans with holes at the knees, a Pierce The Veil t-shirt, black converse and an oversized sweatshirt. I threw that on and raced downstairs.

I slid into the kitchen and poured some Lucky Charms into a ceramic bowl. I sat down and scooped spoonfuls of cereal into my mouth. I finished quickly and put my bowl in the dishwasher.

I nearly tripped running up the stairs to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After finally finishing brushing my teeth, I ran downstairs grabbed my bag by the door and ran out towards school.

Elizabeth

I peered through my half open eyelids with a black looming figure over me, teeth clenched, and fist balled. I blinked a few times and realized it was just a mere image from my mind.

I rolled out of bed and looked down at my bloody and beaten body. Huge dark bruises formed on my legs and arms. Scratches covered my arm and dried blood caked mouth. I looked up hastily and staggered over to my closet.

I looked around the floor for some clean clothing and finally found a short sleeved marvel shirt, some skinny blue jeans, and some black vans.

I went over to the mirror and fixed a beanie unto my head and slipped on a hoodie.

I walked to the window and quietly pulled myself outside before quietly closing it behind me. I took a deep breath of relief and started my walk through the quiet beach. The smell of sea salt was pleasant and welcoming. The bright hot sun shone bright over the blue horizon and the sand was warm under my shoes. I turned and noticed three figures rushing towards me. I turned and started running.

Halfway down the beach they called my name and I tripped over a bulging rock. My eye sight blurred and a sharp hot pain hit my back like a knife. My vision cleared and I saw who had called my name. Lucas, Aiden, and Wyatt. Where's Harper? I thought to myself. The boys lifted me up and gave me a great big hug.

"Why do you have all those bruises? And why is there dried blood on your lips?" Aiden asked.

"I... uh fell yesterday." I stuttered. "Where's Harp?" I added quickly.

"He's waiting for us at school. C'mon." Wyatt suggested. We missed in agreement and started out way down. Lucas stayed behind with me and whispered, "It happened again didn't it?"

I looked at him, my mouth gaping open and confused. "H-how did you know about that?"

"Come on Liz! You come back with bruises and blood on your face. It's not hard to figure out." He slid his hand in mine and gave a tight squeeze.

"Please, don't tell Harp." I pleaded.

"I promise." He gave one more squeeze and let go. We walked in silence the rest of the way.

"Harper!" Lucas called. Harper was leaning against a wall examining his nails. I stayed back trying to stay hidden. Harper hugged all the guys while messing with their hair.

"What took you guys so long?" He asked.

"We bumped into Liz." Aiden chimed in.

Harper looked past them and his eyes landed on me. He ran towards me and before I could react he picked me up and started hugging me tightly and I returned the hug.

"I missed you." He whispered through my hair.

"I missed you too." He set me down and the boys just stared us while laughing. I stepped a good distance away from Harp before walking to first period.

Harper

I rubbed the back of my neck as I walked towards my friends. "Dude." Aiden breathed out between giggles. "When are you going to ask her out? You've had a crush on her since what? Preschool." He said still laughing with the other boys.

"I would if I knew how she felt about me. Maybe she doesn't even like me like that."

"Whatever." Aiden said rolling his eyes at me.

They nudged me and messed up my hair before we started walking behind Elizabeth to first period.
