It's been a long journey, I must say, and now we have come to a bittersweet end. Bittersweet because I am both excited and happy to have finished my first story, and sad because I never really wanted it to end. I've grown attached to Cora, Raphael, Jack and Ellie just as much as you all have, if not more. But that's what sequels are for right?
Fiend is a story primarily following Raphael's dark journey to recovery and finding Cora. This story will primarily be written from his point of view unless otherwise stated. I will not be posting any chapters to Fiend for a few weeks other than the promo. I want to start editing Vixen to get it polished and perfect for publishing, and I would like to unveil a new/old story: Total Knock Out.
It's basically (for the very few who remember the three chapters of) "Chasing Riley" completely remodeled with a new title, and an actual plot! There are some name changes, but it's basically a new story so who cares! Go give that story some love please, I up'ed my goal from Vixen's 10k reads to 100k!
When I do start posting Fiend, it will not be my primary story. My new primary story will be Total Knock Out, but I will update Fiend at least monthly! Fiend will be slow updating just for the sake it's mostly in Raphael's pov.
You all have been lovely for following me throughout. I'd love to talk to some of you, get feedback or even just shoot the breeze. Readers bring life to the story!
Q&A:
Q. Explain Algernon.
A. Algernon has been in the Alpha position for many years, and generally wolves start to step down around their fifties or at least begin training their heir in their fifties. Algernon is power hungry and never wants to give up the title; he wants to stay in power and steal power until he is ultimately the most powerful. He was always crazy, as I explained at the end he suffers from narcissism, mutliple personality disorder, and schizophrenia. Schizophrenia would probably be the root to all of his problems, but no one saw any wrong in him; his developing schizophrenia lead him to becoming crazy and as he aged he read a lot of books. These books and notions about power stuck in his head all too much. Algernon's like third face/side to him that he expresses to Raphael in the flashback scene to Hanna's death, is really just part of his schizophrenia and MPD. Algernon was originally supposed to live up to all the rumors of his sacrificing wolves but I fellt short when it came to that.
Q. Did Raphael really kill Hanna?
A. Yes, and of course it was by accident. Algernon pushed Hanna in the way to protect himself. When Hanna dies, so does a part of Raphael which is why he is so closed off towards Cora initialy. He by no means wanted to end up like his father.
Q. What was the Blue River Pack like for Cora?
A. Awful. She literally was shuffled from house to house on a nightly basis. No one loved her, she was constantly put down and made fun of. Xavier purposefully picked on her which only lead to her rebelling against his petty rules. In the finished draft of Vixen, I will have more depth detail about her life before being exiled.
Q. Was the war always brewing?
A. I had alluded to it several times to signify that times were becoming darker as Cora discovered more about herself. This supernatural war had been schemed ever since Cora was changed.
Q. If they could just make another hybrid, why bother making Cora human in the end?
A. Azrael/Jimmy devised a master plan all along; no one really wanted to go through the hassle of creating another hybrid because honestly it was all up to chance and luck to determine the creature's disposition, and power. Cora fortunartely took on more of a wolf disposition than vampire one, but she has many powers that she doesn't even know of. Honestly, the vampires were all talk; they feared raising another hybrid because they felt like then the hybrid race would become superior and over throw them. The Vampires wanted superiority and couldn't risk raising a race even more superior than their own. They knew that if they couldn't tame or subdue it, it would turn on them and it was a risk they weren't willing to take. With Cora, they could have taken away her wolf and made he a shell or a vessel of destruction.
Q. Can you tell us about Cora's triplets that were miscarried?
A. They were actually a morbid symbol for her three sides; wolf, vampire, human. Apart, they were weak and vulnerable, but when she miscarried, it signified that she was ready to accept herself as one.
Q. Why was Loren even a thing?
A. Again, this was a separate side story line I wanted to do but then didn't so I ended up just killing him. With that it showed the growth in Cora's powers though and a strained interaction between her and her parents.
Q. Why did you wait until the end of the story to introduce Adrian, her brother?
A. Adrian was her illegitimate brother and no one really knew he existed except for Hero but she tried her best to keep him out of their lives. Wolves are supposed to keep save themself in some sense for their Fated mate, and having a child with someone other than your mate was absolutely absurd. Adrian also isn't entirely wolf, but he wasn't meddled with my magic. He was born with magic. Adrian was recruited by Azrael/Jimmy to push Cora over the edge.
Q. Why didn't you explain how/why Orion made Cora part vampire?
A. I honestly meant to and probably got sidetracked. I promise to have all the plot holes fixed -- this was a honest first draft.
Q: What happened to Ellie?
A: I actually don't even fucking remember what I was going to do with her. Like she's still alive, or at least supposed to be. I was supposed to mention her return.. but didn't.
