Twenty-Four

"Soo-ah..."

Yoongi couldn't believe his eyes. Soo-ah was standing on the other side of the white door that Taehyung was supposed to walk through. She stepped through the door and moved towards Yoongi. With every step that she took, Yoongi could feel his breath heightening as she came closer and closer to him. She gently reached for his hands, and when she felt his touch again, she smiled so beautifully back at him.

"I've been waiting for you, Min Yoongi."

"Waiting for me? What do you mean?"

The same man in black that Yoongi had seen five years ago when he first ended his life had unexpectedly shown up. He had a warm smile on his face as he spoke softly to Yoongi.

"Min Yoongi, I told you five years ago that you were being punished for taking your own life. You were stuck wandering the world alone because, back then, you didn't understand the importance of a person's life. You easily took your own life and never thought of the pain it would cause others."

"I don't understand," Yoongi spoke while still feeling extreme confusion.

"You were given a task that you didn't know of. Every day, you had to take countless of souls to the afterlife, but you remained the same, not fully understanding how important each life was. You just coldly did your job and never stopped to think that the person you were escorting had just died. They were leaving their loved ones behind."

Yoongi swallowed the lump in the back of his throat while the man in black continued.

"Today, I came here to tell you that you are free of your grim reaper duty. You can go to heaven along with Taehyung and Soo-ah. I have seen how you've been helping Taehyung with his mission. I also heard your talk with Taehyung just now. I knew then that you finally understood how precious a person's life is. I had given Soo-ah a choice to either wait for you or go on without you. She chooses to wait."

Yoongi was left speechless. He turned his attention to Soo-ah while gripping tightly onto her hands, afraid to let go.

"You waited five years for me? Why Soo-ah?"

"Because I love you, Min Yoongi. I didn't know how long it was going to take, but I knew we would be able to meet again one day. So I waited for you."

Yoongi had heard enough and pulled her into his arms. It felt so right to finally get to hold her again after five years of nothing but pain and torture from missing her.

"I've missed you so much, Soo-ah."

"I've missed you too," she tightly returns the embrace, never wanting to let the man that she loved so dearly go.

He pulled away, but only to lift her chin so that he could place a sweet kiss on her lips. Yoongi melted into the kiss as he deepened it, savoring every last taste of her. A tear streaked down his eyelid before softly pulling away from the kiss. The two smiled at each other with eyes that spoke nothing but love for one another.

"It's time for all three of you to go now," The man in black spoke out, causing Yoongi to look away from his Soo-ah for a second.

"Wait," Yoongi called out before gently breaking away from Soo-ah's embrace. He went over to Taehyung to grab the younger man and yanked him into a tight hug.

"Taehyung-ah. You said I was your guardian angel, but you are wrong. You were my guardian angel. I take back what I said earlier. Let's meet each other again. Let's both live a long life together in the next life."

Taehyung widely grinned back at Yoongi while he returned the hug.

"Yes, Hyung. Let's meet again."

Yoongi backed away from the hug with his hands still on Taehyung's shoulder, gripping it tightly.

"You better come find me. I'll be an even better Hyung to you when I see you again," Yoongi grinned back at Taehyung, showing off his gummy smile.

Yoongi and Taehyung both walked toward Soo-ah. Yoongi interlocked hands with Soo-ah while his left arm hooked over Taehyung's shoulder. The three of them smile while walking through the white door.

The door closed shut and disappeared.
