Crawling along the cracked cement line
Disgusting and ugly, they make you whine.
Some are slimy and some just blind
While some are huge, some have no mind.
Sewers are their home and puke is the bed
Scavenging  excrement to keep themselves fed.
Creeping you out with their lust to bite
They are the creatures of the night.

Eyes are present in weird places,
Antennas for ears, to know natures forces.
Bodies dragged across the floor
By legs working hard to fight gravity.
Life is short for things like these
One moment is light the next is darkness.
Tiny, powerless and barely a fight
Yet humans cringe at their first sight.
They are the creatures of the night.

Just when people find the courage,
A species surprises them with flight.
Tiny little wings thinner than paper,
They're your beloved bathroom neighbour.
Nimble footed with a light body
The cockroach is a special breed.
Different from the slugger species
Cleaner than your average undies.
The most hated thing without any might,
They are they creatures of the night.

But Mother nature loves all her children,
Bugs, insects or parasites, she keeps them hidden,
From the kids that have turned on her
And slowly poison her beautiful soul.
In the darkness of the loneliest corners
Upon flowers or roots or in fosters,
Deep in oceans unexplored or mountains unscaled,
Or beneath the surface of s dying bark..
The greatest creation isn't what rules the crust,
But the tiny ignored creeps that hide from light.
The creatures of the night.
