XXXIX. THERE'S NO USE IN FIGHTING IT

I was always taught
to disregard boys like you,
and to never give my all
to someone who'd be my ruin;

but I've been naive
and hopeful my whole life,
in the process getting my heart shattered
one too many times.

it seems like love
is a bottomless well
and I keep falling,

falling,

falling down.

and what I have of hopeful,
I also have of hopeless,
so I have stopped trying to climb my way out,

and just keep sinking endlessly.

-- I will drown and no one will be bothered.
