Life has a way of making good things hard and bad things easy,
The stars further away than the darkness,
The bottle close and friends far away.
Society demands equality
And acceptance
And they raise up some to prove that we're all on the same level
People seem to think that love is reached by hatred,
That if you cry long enough you'll find joy.
They fight for peace,
Rush for patience,
Hurt for kindness,
Sin for the greater good,
Cheat for faith,
Push towards gentility,
And they drink for self-control.
What world do we live in,
Where things are so backwards,
So difficult?
Can I leave this behind and go to a land of innocence,
A land where people know how to treat others,
A land where fighting is a distant nightmare
And love is supreme?
Why can I not be everything I wish I were,
Everything I need to be?
Can I ever make it to the land where freedom is truly free?
