Im back.

Riley

As I walk the aisles of Mande's there's really only one thing on my mind... that probably shouldn't be but it's Maya. And come to think of it, she's been on my mind since her first day just last month. I replay the art room scene over and over and over again in my head. She's so talented but so shy about showcasing her talents. Not to mention how cute she is.

A huge smile sweeps across my face as I remember how red she got when me and Ms. Cavnas complimented her work, how she didn't want to look me in the face. Sometimes I feel super intimidated to talk to her, in fear that she might not like me or my personality but yesterday was really nice.

Really really nice.

We've started talking more but I haven't gotten the chance to talk to her as much as I'd wish. Lucas very much values couple time- and come to think of it I actually haven't hung out with the others in a while.

I grab a bag full of valentine's day candy and throw it into my basket.

"What about this Riley?" I pop my head up and walk to the aisle next to mind to find Ava holding up a red stuffed bear with the letters A&A -Ava and Auggie- in the bear's heart. I can't help but smile as I pick the bear up and admire it.

"It's perfect." I say to her. She snatches it back and smiles a wide toothy grin.

"He better like it or else I'm not buying him anything next year." She states swinging her basket around. I shake my head. "Trust me. He will." She comes over to my side and peeks into my basket before looking up at me... then to my basket... then back up at me.

"Who is this for?" She asks taking out a mini golden bag that held a gold heart necklace with a sparkling charm on it. "My mom." I reply, walking off with her close behind me. I continue to look for things to get my friends and classmates. "Then who is this one for?" She asks taking another necklaces out, this one held a beautiful rose charm." I took back at her and furrow my brows. I must have picked it up by accident. "Based on the weird face your making, I'm going to guess you picked this up by accident." Ava picks up the necklace, turns around and begins walking away to put it back before I call out her name. She stops in her tracks with her hands on her hips.

"Actually. I'll buy it." I conclude, putting the necklace into my basket.

I know exactly who I'll give it too.

I sit at home on my bed with all my Valentine's Day things spread out around me. I love Valentines Day so much. Yeah it's just another day for the rich to get richer but I love expressing my love and care for my friends and family.

I look up as I hear a knock on my door.

"Hey Riley, how was your hunt with Ava?" My beautiful mother Topanga peeks her head into my door way.

"It was actually really good. Want to see what I got?" I smile wide as my mom comes over and kneels down as to not knock anything off my bed. I watch her face as she admires the different trinkets and gifts I got for people. Her face changes as she picks up the necklace that Ava almost put back, the one I picked up by accident.

She holds it up to me. "Who is this for? It's absolutely beautiful." She states admiring the necklace between her fingers. My face gets hot and my eyes widen as I was really hoping she wouldn't see that one.

"It's for... my friend... Maya..." I say, scratching the back of my neck. She looks up at me.

"The friend you won't let me meet?" She chuckles. I roll my eyes at her. "It's not that. The last time she came here you were at work. That's not my fault." I continue wrapping the valentine's gifts.

"Tell her about the cafe! I'm sure she would love to come. Matter of fact we are having a Valentine's Day party tonight that you just so happen to be hosting... or did you forget?"

I facepalm and groan as I indeed had forgotten.

"Lucas wanted to take me out tonight." I say awkwardly.

"Doesn't seem like you're up for it. Also I thought Valentine's Day was a day for you and your friends dear. Heard you talking to Ava earlier about how you don't hang with them as much anymore." My mom is a very smart woman but she hears and knows too much. I sigh and frown. She's right. "Also." She puts a hand under my chin and holds my head up.

"There is a difference between 'couple time' and 'I'd rather you hang with me than your friends' time. You got to know the difference." And with that Topanga lays Maya's necklace back down on my bed and blows me a kiss before leaving my room.

Why is she always right?
