with each passing day,
she fell deeper in love with the sky
and how it simmered to night
with an extravagant,
breathtaking finish.

sunsets were always her favourite.
the colours blending with each other
and swirling across the sky
in perfect harmony,
occasionally in a battle for dominance
with contrasting, bright colours
that stayed beautiful all the same.

beautiful despite all the ugliness in the world.

it was the most comforting thing to her,
no matter the events of the day,
the sunset would still occur
and end the day off
on a positive note
