Lap 398- Jeff comes up on the back bumper of Denny Hamlin ready to lap him, Denny is 12th and +4 to the good. Jeff comes across the line to get the white flag.
Lap 399- We're in the last lap at Dover! Allen Bestwick:"2001, the last time Jeff won at this race track" Jeff still holds the lead. Jeff is in turn 3, Alan:"He won the championship in that 2001 year wining at all the same tracks he won on this year, checkered flag at Dover today for Jeff Gordon! Gordon's through with the win at the the Monster Mile! I start tearing up and get out of my seat and cheering for Jeff.
Lap 400- Jeff:"That's how you do it with a statement boys, that's what I'm talking about heck yeah!" Your top 5 is Jeff, Brad, Jimmie, Joey and Matt Kenseth. Jeff's team celebrates, Kasey finishes 20th and is the last driver to advance to the next round. All the cars come down pit road while Jeff does his burnout on the front stretch and I cry happy tears because my favorite driver won at my first race! That's Jeff's 92nd career win and 5th win at Dover. Jeff does his victory lap and when he comes by our turn my dad and I cheer loudly for him. Then Jeff drives to victory lane. AJ misses advancing by 2 points, Greg -7, Kurt -6, and Aric -18. The guys who advance are Joey, Brad, and Jeff by wins in the first round, Kevin +46, Jimmie +44, Kyle Busch +34, Dale
+27, Kenseth +20, Ryan +14, Carl +14, Denny +4, and Kasey by 2 points.
