CHAPTER ONE

Lea Pov

"Lea!" I cringe at My Guardian yelling at me to go downstairs. I miserably trudged to My Guardian to see what she wanted. " Be a nice little [insert bad-word] and get me a couple of beers. " She said in a sickly sweet voice. " Okay. " I mumbled.

After, midnight when My Guardian was downstairs. I grabbed my pink treasure box that was hidden in my mattress. I opened it with the key I had around my neck. Inside was my box that had my personal stuff  money, my teddy bear Cheri, my journal, and a special bracelet. I started my journal when I was twelve-years-old. I opened to the first page and I smiled remembering the memory.

Dear future me,

HI I'M LEA! I LOVE DONUTS! I am writing to me . . . or is you? Anyways, I'm in sixth grade right now! Today was my first day of Middle school. Today, Miss. Clambers gave us a cool project! It's about a hero in your life. I'm writing about Daddy, because he saved Mommy and my life. He saved us from a fire. Sadly, he didn't survive but I'm very grateful he saved our lives. I'm happy because, Mommy is making me a special dinner to celebrate my first day of school. So, BYE! Love, Lea Leaners! Sept. 8 2006

After a few minutes of remembering I stop and grimace as I turn to the next page. The day where my life when down the drain.

Dear future me,

Hi. . . Mommy hit me really hard yesterday, But then she apologized after I started bawling. Mommy is in a really bad mood. I know, because she is screaming at me about I'm useless. After, she stopped screaming. She ran up the stairs and slammed me against the wall. I started to cry, but Mommy slapped my face and told me to shut up. After that she said she was going to the pub. She then left. I ran to open my bedroom door after she left. Sadly, she locked the door. I'm going to sleep. Good 'nite, me. Sept. 10 2006

I frowned. Then My Guardian walked up the stairs. My eyes got big and I quickly put away my pink box, but I wasn't quick enough.
