Paper Boats

I like to think we're paper boats,

Floating through the calm water,

The wind in our sails and the ocean below us.

Aimlessly wandering through sea, time, and space.

We were not meant to hold weight,

To bare the gravity that sinks us down.

We were made to fly, or at least,

That's what they said.

But they change it through time,

Their opinion,

They know the truth but keep it,

Greedy as they come.

They don't tell us that we have chains,

Chains that will drag us to the bottom of the ocean,

Surrounding us till we are no more.

No more.

The seas may thunder for a while,

Waves raging high into the sky,

But they settle down,

And become calm waters again.

Swallowed into time, we paper boats dissolve,

Until so thin, the chain can't hold us,

So small that's missed to eyes,

And slowly we fade, one with the peaceful ocean.
